Thank you for a great Launch Party!
Added 2021-03-21 13:42:28 +0000 UTCEven while it was a little exhausting, it was really great to get in touch with you and receive first feedback. While I was a little bit surprise by Google Review Team's decision to finally approve the extension after 10 solid days and therefore the start was less prepared with accompagning documentation and videos, it was still a great experience for me. Thank you!
For everyone not able to attend to one of the three streams yesterday, here is the gist of it:
- We are transitioning from https://www.vttassets.com to https://www.vtta.io. Therefore:
1) Login at https://www.vtta.io
2) Go to your user profile by clicking on your name in the top right
3) Connect your Patreon and (optionally, recommended) Discord account
The rest is explained in the first introductionary video, you will find a link below.
- There is a complete new toolset and a supporting infrastructure that is deployed all over to globe to make your imports smoothly, quickly and available.
- The old tools will retire in due time. Because adventure module import is now not only the result of an automatic parser, but gets enriched by providing manually crafted processing instructions by me, the quality of the result is way greater - but require additional effort to be available. I am lagging behind where I wanted to be until launch, but we will get there. You can find an overview about current supported adventure module status on Github . Do not be disheartened about so many modules being on the very left column: We already do have a great data basis from the old importer, it just needs finishing touches, so many of the cards will wander into the right columns rather soon.
- There is a new Discord server for you to meet, get help and in touch: https://discord.vtta.io. Why a new discord? Sometimes it's better for your soul to really start fresh, without technological and emotional debt. I am sorry for adding confusion about all these new things all at once.
Documentation and Video Tutorials
I just uploaded the first two videos that will get help you get up and running, you can find them on my YouTube channel. Here is a link to the playlist containing the videos related to the new integration tools.
Additional information is available on the website (https://www.vtta.io/assets/vtta-ddb), but it will receive more love. When you install the module, you can go through a Tutorial which explains basic usage within Foundry VTT: Use the "Show Tutorial" button on the release notes screen that appears after your very first Foundry start after you install the module.
Additional Information
- I have received quite some reports that users are unable to connect the extension to their Foundry VTT game. This issue is currently under investigation. I cannot reproduce it locally nor on the Forge nor on my cloud-hosted FVTT server, so it might take some time to find the root cause.
- In regards to adventure module import, the Chrome extension currently display a "Start Import" button on all adventure modules, while only a select few are actually ready to import (see the GitHub link above to find out which). If you click the button, it will look like that something is happening, but the missing processing instruction will result into nothing getting imported into Foundry VTT.
This will be fixed in the next Chrome extension version.
Thanks again for your support and your patience. You are unbelievably awesome!
Stay lovely,
Sebastian
