This episode was based off the case of Elian Gonzalez, who was a 5 year Cuban boy. His mother drowned trying to escape with him to America. He was found floating in a tube, off the coast of Florida by some fisherman. His father was in Cuba, and he had some family in the US as well. Basically different sides of his family, and multiple governments, and protestors, etc., argued over who should get custody, or where he would reside. Eventually, he was taken into custody in an armed raid during Easter weekend, and returned with his father back in cuba.
