Chef goes on an adventure but when he returns something just isn't quite right...

What a way to send him off but i'm sure if he was alive then he would of appreciated the way he was sent off otherwise Matt & Trey wouldn't have done it like that

In the prior season they made the episode about scientology, and Isaac Hayes who was a scientologist took offense to it. There is a lot of ambiguity around what actually happened because Scientology is known to be sketchy and manipulative and Isaac Hayes passed away a few years later after dealing with some health issues, but... Somebody, either Isaac or someone else possibly on his behalf, or possibly behind his back, essentially said if they didn't pull the episode he'd be done with the show, which didn't sit well with Matt and Trey. He was more than happy to be involved in episodes, stick by the show, cash a paycheck when they are making fun of other groups, but once it was scientology, it seemed to cross a line. Their mantra has always been, "either its all okay, or none of it is". Saying its okay to make fun of Christians, or Muslims, or jews, but not scientologists, is essentially de facto censorship. I think their intention with the episode was again to take issue with scientology and their manipulation of him, and as the eulogy said, to look back at him fondly for who he was, and not who had become because of that fruity club. But of course in South Park fashion, it was done in a pretty extreme way.

Really is a shame what the church of Scientology did to Isaac Hayes. :(
