Last trial

Seth widened his eyes when he spotted an unfamiliar woman charging at him. Despite not recognizing the form, the chaos around her instantly made him aware of her identity.

Seth backed away and spread his energy before him, trying to form a shield and repel the sudden attack.

Fenrir raised one hand, the vortex in her palm absorbing the energy forming the shield, breaking it instantly. The gap between the two shortened quickly, forcing Seth to teleport away.

When he appeared again, he stood before his wives, a short distance from Fenrir, who was still charging at him. Despite being faced with five gods, Fenrir didn’t hesitate for even a moment in continuing her attack.

“Try to stay away from now,” said Seth, his sources spinning as he sent a handful of attacks toward Fenrir.

Fenrir waved her hand again, absorbing all the energy coming at her as she said with a laugh, “You’re going to have to try harder.”

Knowing that throwing energy attacks at her won’t do a thing, Seth also charged toward her. The sound of a divine spike breaking left Seth’s soul as a destruction greatsword appeared in his hand.

Seth swung the greatsword at Fenrir, which met it with her palm as usual. The palm and greatsword met, sparks of chaos and destruction leaving their impact.

Seth managed to stop Fenrir’s charge for the first time, but she didn’t show any worry or the like, the smile on her lips growing wider.

“More,” said Fenrir, grabbing the greatsword and spreading her chaos over its surface as a dagger of chaos left her other hand, flying right at Seth’s destruction source.

Seth moved his source out of the way of the attack, but the dagger just passing through his energy body caused his form to become unstable, and the greatsword left his palm, allowing Fenrir to throw it to the side.

Seth’s heart cried as he watched his weapon dissolve into energy, chaos devouring it continuously, but noticing Fenrir’s hands heading for his sources, he had no choice but to escape again.

Covering his sources with space energy, Seth teleported them to the side, abandoning his body and re-materializing.

When his body reformed, Fenrir had just finished absorbing all the energy he left behind and charged back at him.

“How can one even win against this thing?” muttered Seth, breaking another spike of destruction and creating a new greatsword.

‘I’ll help,’ Lust’s voice resounded in Seth’s head, and he could feel his lust source spinning in reverse.

As he wondered what she had planned, chaos energy emerged from his lust source, forming a thin film around his body. ‘I borrowed some energy from the seed, but it’s limited, so make good use of it. That sword of pure concept can also injure her, but you must land a direct hit on her source.’

Seth didn’t ask anything else and charged back at Fenrir, who was watching the chaos energy covering Seth’s body with a puzzled expression.

Seth swung the newly formed greatsword at Fenrir’s hand, where her source was located, but Fenrir just covered her hand in a film of chaos energy and grabbed it once more.

Fenrir formed a new dagger of chaos, which she thrust at Seth’s sources. Seth had lust focus the chaos energy to protect himself from the attack as he teleported his greatsword away behind Fenrir.

When she noticed the disappearance of the greatsword, Fenrir’s eyes widened for a moment in surprise before her body released a massive burst of chaos energy toward all sides.

Seth’s avatar, who had just broken space behind Fenrir, was engulfed in the flames of chaos, as was Seth’s real body.

When Fenrir retracted her energy inside her source, Seth’s gruesomely injured body was revealed. All his sources were already leaking energy, clearly indicating the damage he had sustained after the last attack.

“Nice try, but it’s useless. Against absolute power, all tricks are meaningless,” said Fenrir in glee, pausing to wait for Seth to patch the damage to his sources.

Seth materialized and asked with a pained expression, “Why are you doing this? Didn’t you say you’ll not try to attack me?”

“Did I say that?” asked Fenrir. “I guess I changed my mind. You’d better-“

Fenrir paused in her speech and raised an eyebrow, feeling space and time around her become murky. Her eyes moved toward the source of the anomaly and noticed Henrietta in the distance, spreading her influence around her.

“Kids should behave while adults are talking. System, seal the space and time divinity holder.”

Following Fenrir’s words, unknown chains appeared out of nowhere, moving around Henrietta’s body and locking her tightly. The influence of space and time stopped instantly as Henrietta’s body disappeared, replaced with a round soul tightly bound by those chains.

‘System? What is that energy, and why did he call out to you?’ asked Seth inside his head, watching how easily Fenrir dealt with Henrietta in confusion.

<… She must have a stabilizer system herself. As for the chains… they are chains of data.>

‘Data?’

<They are similar to the commands used by the Tower to seal divinities that step inside it… Seth, you can’t win. She has complete control over the simulation. It might even be above the Tower’s level of control.>

Reading the notification in his vision, Seth teleported to Henrietta’s side and covered the chains in destruction energy, but no matter how much he tried, the chains were left unscathed.

With a frown, Seth broke another of his spikes, creating a new greatsword he swung right at the chains. This time, the chain he hit shattered, but two more appeared out of nowhere, replacing it.

“As I’ve already said, it’s pointless, seed of destruction,” Fenrir’s words drifted into Seth’s ear as she approached from the distance. “With my level of access to the entire simulation, you stand no chance against me.”

Seth’s expression kept changing before he turned his deep red eyes to Fenrir and asked through gritted teeth, “What do you want? You would have already done it if you wanted to kill me.”

“Fight me fair and square. I’ll send your pets away and keep them sealed for a while, but I can promise they will be left unharmed if you manage to injure me. I’ll also not use the administrator system against you.”

“Don’t, Seth. We can still fight,” Lisa immediately said, ready to use her divinity, but Seth raised his hand to stop her, looking only at Fenrir’s smiling face.

“I accept,” said Seth, taking a deep breath.

Fenrir giggled and said, “System, constrict the divinities of Water, Darkness, Light, and Air. Seal and lock them away inside the control tower.”

More chains emerged from nowhere, wrapping around everyone but Seth, dragging them away and leaving Seth alone.

Seth sighed, and more than a dozen spike-breaking noises resounded deep inside his soul, destruction, and creation energy covering his entire body.

“Good. You’re finally serious,” said Fenrir, chaos spreading across her body.

Seth didn’t reply, instead charging right at her, space and time breaking all around, different energies of all kinds gaining weapon forms and moving to attack Fenrir. Seth himself carried two greatswords, which he swung right at her head.

He was using all of his sources and divinities, even shattering all of his divine spikes, hoping that would be enough for him to injure her.

Fenrir moved to meet his attack, ignoring the creation energy attacks from all around, leaving them to land on her body as she created two chaos daggers in her hands, meeting Seth’s destruction greatswords head-on.

The two simple daggers stopped Seth’s overhead attack, and Fenrir was pushed back a few feet. Breaking the lock, Seth swung at her again right away.

Under Seth’s continuous assault, Fenrir was slowly pushed back, but her expression didn’t reflect any pressure or worry.

Fenrir smiled brightly, while Seth had a continuously deepening frown. The chaos and destruction blades met repeatedly, the fabric of space breaking with each collision as notifications kept appearing in their vision.

Just as Fenrir ignored the notification about the puncture of the void prison, so did Seth ignore his notification about the damage to his sources.

Despite Fenrir being pushed backward with each collision, Seth’s greatswords were the ones who got chipped more and more by the chaos daggers.

‘Seth, stop!’ said Lust.

<Seth, you’re not going to win like this.>

The notifications and warnings were drowned by Seth’s mind repeating a single thing as he swung his weapons recklessly at Fenrir.

‘Push through. Push through. Push through…’

After being locked for hours in the same ritual, Seth’s greatswords got reduced to the size of Fenrir’s daggers, but he never stopped attacking.

With one last swing, the destruction daggers he held shattered on impact, and Fenrir’s blades pierced cleanly through Seth’s palms.

“You lost,” whispered Fenrir, a sad smile on her face. “In the end, I was right.”

The chaos energy absorbed Seth’s hands, and he fell forward to his knees, his head hanging low, his hair covering his face filled with unwillingness.

Fenrir looked down at the kneeling Seth, and her smile disappeared as she said, “You should have said goodbye to your wives. You’re never going to see them again.”

“System, kill -“

“Wait,” interrupted Seth, lifting his head to look back at Fenrir’s cold eyes. “I’m not done.”

“Not done? Your divinities are nothing more than decorations now. Are you going to punch my source to death?” asked Fenrir with a jeer.

Seth’s chest started heaving up and down as he tried to use his energy to stand up, but a series of notifications quickly appeared in his vision.

<Destruction energy at 0%. Damage over 82%>

<Creation energy at <1%. Damage over 45%>

<Space energy at 0%. Damage over 91%>

<Time energy at 0%. Damage over 90%>

<Lust energy at 0%. Damage over 63%>

<Perception energy at 0%. Damage over 32%>

<Seth, you’ve thrown everything at her… you only have enough energy to keep material form, and both your sources and divinities are on the verge of shattering…>

‘I can’t fall here… not when I got so close. I can’t…’ Seth screamed in unwillingness inside his mind, pushing his divinities to spin and gather more energy.

His hands slowly recovered, and he began standing up, but following a loud shattering sound, his creation divinity crumbled and returned to the world.

The last standing divinity inside his soul, destruction, began spinning as well, its frame crumbling with each revolution as destruction energy gathered to form a new sword in his hand.

Fenrir watched this and mercilessly kicked Seth’s hand, causing him to fall back on his behind and his hand to rip from his torso.

Seth watched the thud left where his right hand was, and his unwillingness finally turned to despair. Lust had fallen silent, his wives were all in the hands of Fenrir, and his sources were completely spent.

Fenrir turned around and said, “System, open a bridge to the outside. I’m leaving.”

Seth raised his head to watch the revolving portal that had appeared, and his eyes started slowly closing as Fenrir began walking away.

‘I’m sorry, everyone… I have failed.’
