Human legacy
Added 2023-02-04 12:00:04 +0000 UTCThe two orbs hovering above Pearl’s hands began spinning under the influence of her creation energy as soon as Seth finished his words.
Pearl extended her hands forward, and her energy carried the orbs through the two portals. Even before they disappeared into the portals, the two space ascended canceled their energy, ensuring their portals closed the moment both orbs passed through.
With the attack successfully passing through the portals, Seth heaved a sigh of relief, canceling the energy he was channeling around his body and turning to look towards the northeast.
Pearl and the other three ascended nearby also turned towards the southeast or northeast, waiting to witness the outcome of Pearl’s attack.
Five seconds passed in which nothing seemed to happen, making the three ascended begin to suspect the attack failed, but before they could even comment anything, Life’s armies on the ground fell silent.
The insults Endora’s armies got used to hearing for the last two weeks suddenly stopped.
“Did it work?” asked Pearl in a whisper, noticing the anomaly, but Seth didn’t have to answer her since, not even two seconds later, two giant fireballs appeared far in the distance.
The intense brightness of the fireballs caused most ascended to have no choice but to avoid their eyes. On the other hand, Seth and Pearl didn’t even blink, continuing to stare at the blinding effects of the attack.
Twenty seconds later, there was a noticeable increase in the air temperature all around, making a frown appear on Seth’s face. Not wasting a moment, he asked the air ascended to project his voice towards the rest of the army.
“Stop flying forward and just keep us afloat. Channel your energies around your bodies and brace for impact.”
His sudden command caught the ascended by surprise, but no one dared not to comply, not after witnessing the two mini-suns created by the attack.
“Did anything happen?” asked Pearl with a frown, looking at the small film of destruction energy Seth spread around her.
“We must have miscalculated something…” said Seth, watching the violet-red and brown cloud that started covering the two suns and rising towards the sky.
Ten seconds later, the rising cloud started taking the form of a gigantic mushroom cap.
Soon, far into the distance, Seth noticed a long, vertical shadow approaching them quickly and called to the ascended. “Incoming!!”
Two shockwaves arrived simultaneously, hitting the platform carrying the ascended from Endora.
The air ascended were the most affected by the attack, the energy they used to keep everyone afloat taking the brunt of the attack. Still, despite small cracks appearing in the platform here and there, the ascended managed to prevent a tragedy, keeping the platform together.
With all the other ascended having already covered themselves in their energies, they barely felt a gentle force hitting them, its effects completely dispelled before it could influence their bodies in any meaningful way.
The same could not be said for the humans on the ground.
Life’s armies soon found themselves pushed by two strong shockwaves from both directions, the heavy armors covering their bodies doing nothing to keep them stable on their feet.
It was like their entire bodies got slapped hard from one side, propelling them through the air before they found themselves lying on the hard ground, bleeding from their eardrums and unable to climb back up due to the heavy weight of their armor.
Loud groans and cries of pain replaced the previous curses they used to hurl at Endora’s armies as they began removing their helms to allow them to breathe easier and maybe even stand up again.
Unfortunately for them, the nightmare was far from over, and shadow after shadow continued hitting them while they were down. Pressure waves reflected out of different mountains and hills hit by the initial shockwaves, returning to rain more pain on Life’s armies.
The lucky ones passed away quickly, and their bodies began being pushed back and forth like ragdolls, carried away by the waves of pressure, but most of them were not that lucky.
The weapons of their companions, carried away by the powerful pressure waves, began reaping the lives they were expected to protect.
It wasn’t long until the entire battlefield was filled with dismembered bodies and rivers of blood flying through the air in all directions.
In Endora’s camp, there was nothing but complete silence.
The scene before them was so incredible that they wouldn’t have believed it if they had not witnessed it themselves—a massacre unprecedented on the entire continent.
The ascended in the back didn’t know the distance at which the two explosions happened, but the three ascended sitting next to Seth were well aware of it.
With the situation being like that at a distance of 500 miles away, they could only imagine what it was like even closer. For all they knew, the entire Kingdom of Life was just made history by a simple attack from Pearl.
As this thought took root in their minds, the look in their eyes as they stared at Pearl also changed. Their eyes contained nothing but fear and respect for the usually silent petite pink-haired girl.
Pearl was not less shaken herself. She knew it was supposed to result in an explosion that could destroy an entire city, but never in her wildest dreams would she have imagined an effect like that being possible at a distance of over 500 miles from the point of detonation.
Looking at her own two hands, which were responsible for everything, she didn’t feel guilty about what she had done, but afraid. She was scared of her newfound power.
She kept thinking about what would have happened if she had made a mistake while practicing creating those things. She knew that would have ended up wiping the entire Dream Kingdom off the face of the world.
‘System, can you figure out the reason for the difference in our estimated range and the actual one?’
<Negative. With a lack of access to the records, analyzing the composition of the Humanity Bomb is impossible. If you can provide me with the knowledge your past self shared with Pearl, I can analyze it to find the main reason for the increased power and range.>
‘You think it’s the formula?’
<That is the most logical explanation. With Pearl’s reaction and her capabilities, we can conclude she was not responsible for any tempering with the fission formula, which can only mean you must have made modifications yourself before imparting the knowledge to her.>
‘But there’s no way I could have made those modifications either. I don’t have the mastery necessary to do it.’
<Yes, but your other self still had access to the records, which meant a system version was still available to him, no matter how bugged it was. For the system, optimizing the formula to increase its effectiveness is possible, given enough time and access to the records.>
After listening to the system’s words, Seth opened his mouth to ask Pearl to make him a copy of the knowledge she had received from the past him, but he didn’t get the chance to when a portal suddenly appeared on the side.
A panicked Lisa shortly walked out of the portal, looking around to check everyone’s condition before sighing in relief.
“You’re alright.”
“What happened with Life’s armies?” asked Seth immediately, knowing that Lisa must be aware of the total impact of the attack.
“At least a quarter of the entire armies gathered by Life and Death kingdoms for this war had been eliminated, with half a quarter barely alive. What was that? Also, Elise wanted to ask what should she do now?”
“Is she ready?” asked Seth.
“She is. The two explosions and the next earthquakes made a little trouble for her, but nothing major.”
“Good. Tell Elise to begin... With the state the Life Kingdom must be in right now, she might even manage to take care of some ascended. Tell her to stay away from the 600 miles area of the two blasts.”
Lisa didn’t bother asking else about it, knowing Seth wouldn’t answer her anyway, and quickly disappeared back into the portal, closing it right behind her.
Throughout the entire conversation between Lisa and Seth, Pearl was too terrified by her thoughts to even notice Lisa’s arrival.
“Y-your Majesty… the strange shadows are starting to stop. Shall we resume our journey?” asked the air ascended nearby, attracting Seth’s attention.
Seth nodded, looking towards what was left of Life’s armies in the area.
“Tell everyone to resume flying forward towards Life’s capital. I will let everyone know if anything happens ahead of time, so you can inform them they can also relax for now. Life would be too busy to even think about bugging us anymore.”
With his orders relayed, the platform resumed its flight in the direction of Life Kingdom’s capital.————————————————————————————————————
Unbeknown to both sides of the war except for Seth, Life Kingdom’s nightmare was nowhere close to over.
The underground rivers and lakes around the eastern side of the Kingdom of Life were now devoid of any water, filled with blood instead.
A blood-red miniature sun was hovering right in front of Elise, blood being continuously released from inside it, expanding its area of influence even more with every second.
Lisa stepped out of a portal that had appeared next to Elise and quickly relayed Seth’s words.
Elise nodded and turned her palms upwards, raising her hands towards the ceiling of the underground cave.
The Blood Sun seemed to react to her movement, digging a tunnel straight through the hard earth and continuing to rush upwards toward the surface.

While Endora’s ascended were taking advantage of the reprieve they were offered, discussing the attack Pearl had unleashed between each other, and the Life armies were scrambling all over to deal with the sudden situation they found themselves in, a bright red light appeared far into the distance, making a blood red hue cover the entire eastern side of the kingdom.
With the apparition of the Blood Sun high above the horizon, a layer of blood seeped upwards throughout the ground, turning the area of its influence into a bloody swamp.
The humans caught in the swamp quickly turned into dried-up mummies, the blood leaving their bodies to join the swamp rising from the ground.
Not even all ascended were spared the same cruel fate. The weaker ones, mainly first and second shells, joined the humans in becoming fuel for the first treasure of the blood race.
What was once considered the weakest horror out of them all finally showed its true capabilities, ending the lives of more than 90% of the Kingdom of Life and Death’s armies in less than a minute, turning those sacrifices into fuel for itself.
Not long after the appearance of the Blood Sun, far off into the north, an ominous green energy rose as if to stand against whatever entity dared to question its dominion, pushing the red light away.
Seth watched the show with a smile slowly growing on his lips.
“You couldn’t take it anymore and finally left your lair. Hehe.”
