Hi all, the first of my "proper" tutorial files! I recorded the sculpt of the female battle mage and have isolated the section where I made the breast plate. A lot of it is obscured in the finial miniature but its good practice to do it all anyway.
Apologies up front that there is a bit of an audio issue with the volume dropping off around the 6 minute mark and 16 minutes for a little bit. I'm not familiar enough with the editing software to know how to fix that yet so I'll try to avoid it in future.
Also, apologies for making you listen to my droning voice for 30+ minutes!
Sculpted on a Wacom Cintiq companion 2 using Zbrush 2019.
Brushes used:
Clay Buildup (positive and negative)
Trim Dynamic
HPolish (positive and negative)
Move brush
Move tool (the widget one)
Mask Brush
Trim Curve
Orbcracks (available to purchase here - https://gum.co/nOkHw)
If you dont have orbcracks I would recommend picking up the brush pack - its awesome! but you can use Dam Standard to achieve a similar effect. but seriously, Orbcracks all the way!!
If any of you would like to try zbrush but dont want to purchase the full software, they do have a "core" version which is cut back, but I believe all of the functionality I've shown here should be present for around £162 vs £870! if you want to go pro with sculpting though you'll make the £870 back fast enough in most cases through a few commissions that its worthwhile doing anyway.
If you have any questions please comment below. If there are any other aspects you'd like to see in more detail please also let me know.
Hope some of you find it useful!
Cheers!
Dan
