Lore: Angels (part 1)

All angels begin their existence in ‘heaven’, an undetermined place that is not governed by conventional physical norms, where they are created and immediately assigned to a mission.

Initially the angels were prohibited from any possible contact with humanity or the Earth. However, since the arrival of the demons several millennia ago, they were forced to mix with the human race, and from then on, the role of the celestial beings changed. Now, their main mission is to balance the scales and try to rescue the greatest number of souls from corruption.

In their spiritual form, they are creatures of a beauty that surpasses any earthly thought. Their features do not matter, the body with which they have been created, the light that surrounds them makes them beautiful in the eyes of any mortal who contemplates them, and they are dazzled and filled with a warmth impossible to describe. The aura of these celestial creatures is capable of calming a human soul with their mere presence, and for this reason they become something reliable almost immediately.

They have a pair of white wings, whose feathers seem to emit a faint light of their own and to be of the lightest texture in the world. And yet they are two strong wings, which can make them fly at great speeds and lift a great weight. As supernatural beings they possess superior strength. No object or earthly force would be able to harm them. The only weakness of these beings are their opponents, the demons. Equal in strength to them, but whose greatest danger lies in their blackened blood, which turns any object bathed in it into dangerous weapons.

Human appearance

Every angel that crosses the threshold to Earth develops a kind of shell, which envelops their essence and gives them a physical presence on the planet, a human appearance. The appearance of this human envelope is defined by the deepest desires of the supernatural. It is a physical body that can be touched, seen, and even hurt. If an angel is injured in this state, it must revert to its original form for its human shell to recover. Also, when a supernatural has spent a long time in this way, or has expended a significant amount of energy, they may feel needs characteristic of mortals such as hunger, sleep ...

As it is only a “camouflage”, even if it is real and functional like any human body, an angel cannot generate offspring with it, since it does not have any genetic load with which to create more life. A gift that only the human race possesses.

When another supernatural or a priest sees them in this form, in addition to their human appearance, they can observe an aura of light around them, along with the also luminous, almost gaseous silhouette of what would be their wings.

Angel blood

Their blood is a copper-colored liquid, almost golden, and of an almost vaporous appearance, which gives the sensation of being very light.

When a human being is the recipient of the blood of an angel, it has healing properties. To the appropriate extent, it is capable of both healing external wounds and a disease that is affecting your body. In an excessive amount, it can cause a deep and prolonged comatose state, from which you may not wake up.

On the contrary, angelic blood is highly toxic and even lethal to its opponents, the demons. It is the only substance capable of causing physical injuries and leaving permanent marks on both the spiritual form and the human appearance of these beings, without the possibility of regenerating the damaged part. If it comes into contact with their skin, it burns and intoxicates them, causing intense pain and, to a great extent, affects their ability to move and think.

Virtues

Humility, Charity, Chastity, Patience, Temperance, Kindness, and  Diligence

Following the always organized and methodical nature of the angels, each one of them that is born, does so under a gift. Specifically, under one of the seven virtues, the antitheses of the capital sins, whose existence precisely tries to counteract the perdition to which the temptation of these is leading humans.

• The virtue of Humility, whose opposite is the capital sin of Pride, endows angels with a special ability to go unnoticed. Specifically, these will only remain in the memory of those to whom they entrust their name.
• The virtue of Charity, whose opposite is the capital sin of Greed, makes an angel capable of sharing a part of himself with any living creature. Whether it is one of his powers, whatever they sense, or even giving up a part of their own energy, their life, to lengthen that of another. Of course, this gift is permanent and irretrievable for the angel.
• The virtue of Chastity, whose opposite is the capital sin of Lust. Their gift allows them to literally absorb any emotion, temptation, memory or pain, and charge it themselves to purify and liberate the mind and body of such souls
• The virtue of Patience, whose opposite is the capital sin of Wrath, gives the angel the ability to make astral travel, placing themselves in the place of another creature at that moment, anywhere in the world
• The virtue of Temperance, whose opposite is the capital sin of Gluttony, grants the gift of an angel to be able to have control, and influence any emotion of another being
• The virtue of Kindness, whose opposite is the capital sin of Envy, grants the gift of empathy. These angels are able to establish such a strong connection with any other soul that they can know exactly how you feel
• The virtue of Diligence, whose opposite is the cardinal sin of Sloth, are the only celestial creatures with the ability to perform rituals of the dark demonic arts. Rites that to any other type of angel would cause terrible and irreparable damage.

Skills:

An angel, in addition to having their own earthly body, has the power to possess the body of a human being. However, possession is a ritual that involves effort, precision, and that does not always work in the same way and has different consequences, depending on who the body belongs to.

In the same way, the celestial creatures have their own rites, conjured through prayers and symbols, which they have used throughout the centuries on Earth both to protect themselves and to stop the advance of the demonic side.

Todos los ángeles comienzan su existencia en el ‘cielo’, un lugar indeterminado y que no se rige por las normas físicas convencionales, donde son creados y enseguida asignados a una misión.

Inicialmente los ángeles tenían prohibido cualquier posible contacto con la humanidad o la Tierra. Sin embargo, desde la llegada de los demonios hace varios milenios, se vieron obligados a mezclarse con la raza humana y, a partir de entonces, el cometido de los seres celestiales cambió. Ahora, su principal misión es equilibrar la balanza y tratar de rescatar el mayor número de almas de la corrupción.

En su forma espiritual, son criaturas de una belleza que sobrepasa cualquier pensamiento terrenal. No importan sus facciones, el cuerpo con el que han sido creados, la luz que les rodea les hace hermosos a ojos de cualquier mortal que les contempla, y que quedan encandilados y llenos de una calidez imposible de describir. El aura de estas criaturas celestiales es capaz de sosegar un alma humana con su sola presencia, y por ello se convierten en algo confiable de forma casi inmediata.

Poseen un par de alas blancas, cuyas plumas parecen emitir una tenue luz propia y ser de la textura más ligera del mundo. Y aún así son dos alas fuertes, que les pueden hacer volar a grandes velocidades y levantar un gran peso. Como seres sobrenaturales poseen una fuerza superior. Ningún objeto o fuerza terrenal sería capaz de dañarles. La única debilidad de estos seres son sus contrarios, los demonios. Iguales en fuerza a ellos, pero cuyo mayor peligro radica en su ennegrecida sangre, que convierte en peligrosas armas cualquier objeto bañado en ella.

Apariencia humana

Todo ángel que cruce el umbral hacia la Tierra desarrolla una especie de cascarón, que envuelve su esencia y les da presencia física en el planeta, una apariencia humana. El aspecto de esta envoltura humana se define por los deseos más profundos del sobrenatural. Se trata de un cuerpo físico que puede ser tocado, visto, y hasta herido. Si un ángel es herido en en este estado, deberá tomar de nuevo su forma original para que su envoltura humana se recupere. También,   cuando un sobrenatural ha pasado mucho tiempo en esta forma, o ha gastado una importante cantidad de energía, puede llegar a sentir necesidades características de los mortales cómo hambre, sueño...

Al tratarse de tan sólo un “camuflaje”, aún si es real y funcional como cualquier cuerpo humano, un ángel no puede generar descendencia con él, ya que no tiene carga genética alguna con la que poder crear más vida. Don que únicamente posee la raza humana.

Cuando otro sobrenatural, o un sacerdote los ve bajo esta forma, además de su apariencia humana estos pueden observar a su alrededor un aura de luz, junto a la silueta también luminosa, casi gaseosa, de lo que serían sus alas.

La sangre de ángel

Su sangre es un líquido de color cobrizo, casi dorado, y de un aspecto casi vaporoso, que da la sensación de ser muy ligero.

Cuando es un ser humano el receptor de la sangre de un ángel, esta tiene propiedades curativas. En la medida adecuada, es capaz tanto de sanar heridas externas como de una enfermedad que esté afectando a su organismo. En una cantidad desmedida, puede llegar a provocar un estado comatoso profundo y prolongado, del que podría no despertar.

Por el contrario, la sangre angelical es altamente tóxica y hasta letal para sus contrarios, los demonios. Es la única sustancia capaz de causar heridas físicas y dejar marcas permanentes tanto en la forma espiritual como en la apariencia humana de estos seres, sin posibilidad de regenerar la parte dañada. Si entra en contacto con su piel les quema y les intoxica, causando un intenso dolor y, en gran cantidad, afecta a su capacidad para moverse y pensar.

Virtudes

Humildad, Generosidad, Castidad, Paciencia, Templanza,

Caridad y Diligencia.

Siguiendo la naturaleza siempre organizada y metódica de los ángeles, cada uno de ellos que nace, lo hace bajo un don. En concreto, bajo una de las siete virtudes, las antítesis de los pecados capitales, cuya existencia precisamente trata de contrarrestar la perdición a la que la tentación de estos está llevando a los humanos.

• La virtud de la Humildad, cuyo contrapuesto es el pecado capital de la Soberbia, dota a los ángeles de una especial habilidad para pasar desapercibidos. Concretamente, estos sólo permanecerán en el recuerdo  de aquellos a quienes le confíen su nombre.
• La virtud de la Generosidad, cuyo contrapuesto es el pecado capital de la Avaricia, hace a un ángel capaz de compartir una parte de sí mismo con cualquier criatura viva. Así sea uno de sus poderes, cualquiera sus sentidos, o hasta entregar una parte de su propia energía, su vida, para alargar la de otro. Por su puesto, este regalo es permanente e irrecuperable para el ángel.
• La virtud de la Castidad, cuyo contrapuesto es el pecado capital de la Lujuria. Su don les permite absorber, literalmente, cualquier emoción, tentación, recuerdos o dolor, y cargarlos ellos mismos para purificar y liberar la mente y el cuerpo de dichas almas
• La virtud de la Paciencia, cuyo contrapuesto es el pecado capital de la Ira, otorga al ángel la capacidad de hacer viajes astrales, situándose en el lugar de otra criatura en ese momento, en cualquier lugar del mundo
• La virtud de la Templanza, cuyo contrapuesto es el pecado capital de la Gula, concede el don de que un ángel pueda tener control, e influir sobre cualquier emoción de otro ser
• La virtud de la Caridad, cuyo contrapuesto es el pecado capital de la Envidia, otorga el don de la empatía. Estos ángeles son capaces de establecer una conexión tan fuerte con cualquier otro alma que pueden saber cómo se siente exactamente
• La virtud de la Diligencia, cuyo contrapuesto es el pecado capital de la Pereza, son las únicas criaturas celestiales con la capacidad de realizar rituales de las oscuras artes demoníacas. Ritos que a cualquier otro tipo de ángel causaría daños terribles e irreparables.

Habilidades:

Un ángel, además de tener su propio cuerpo terrenal, tiene el poder de poseer el cuerpo de un ser humano. Sin embargo, la posesión es un ritual que conlleva esfuerzo, precisión, y que no siempre funciona del mismo modo y tiene consecuencias diferentes, tanto  según a quien pertenezca el cuerpo.

De igual manera, las criaturas celestiales tienen sus propios ritos, conjurados mediante oraciones y símbolos, que han usado a lo largo de los siglos en la Tierra tanto para protegerse como para frenar el avance de bando demoníaco.
