In April 2025, I had the good fortune to be sent Polyend's new effects pedal: MESS. It's an extremely flexible multi-effects pedal with sequenceable parameters. In my video about the pedal, I experimented with various sound sources, both organic and synthesized. I was surprised to discover how much I liked the sound of my ancient E-MU Proteus/2 Rompler when paired with the MESS' chaotic outboard processing. This week, I decided to go back and sample all of the patches I liked the most, which is how I ended up with this library: Messy Proteus. There are twelve patches in total, each one allows you to dial in the amount of MESS processing you want. I find the sequenceable effects of the MESS work especially well with plucked sounds or flute sounds, so those are the instruments I gravitated towards the most. Enjoy!
As always, you can download the sample library through the Decent Sampler plug-in, assuming you use the same email address for Patreon as you do for DecentSamples. Otherwise, you should be able to download it directly from here.
