Finkler and Rommler were standing back to back, their weapons in their hands.
It was a mellow night, and yet, sweat was pouring down their faces and their breath was going fast.
Granny Finkler had sent them to deal with a mad dog that had savaged her chicken coop the other night. So they were grabbing their cudgels and went on towards the bog, where Aunty Speckling had found chicken feathers when she was collecting mushrooms in the morning.
The bog was stretching for a bit, and the muddy water was dotted with little soggy islands and a large petrified oak tree, right in the middle of it. This damp smell and the constant dripping were reminding them of Grandpa Apfelwang’s open mouth, and Rommler was tossing a stone while Finkler was trying to whistle while holding on to his axe.
Then they heard a feint groan from across the water. With a sigh and very carefully, they started jumping from island to island, closing in on the stupid beast that had cornered itself so nicely.
The feeling that you get, when you expect a kitten, and get a lion would not be sufficient to describe the mixture of surprise and panic that immediately took hold of our friends. When a large shadow erected itself in the mist, growing to three times the size of a halfling before uttering a growl so vicious that even the insects stopped buzzing. Then, the beast came through the mist, hands chained to its neck, and its eyes filled with red madness.
The boys knew that no axe they’d swing would stop that nightmare from taking their potato loving lives, and they froze like bunnies in front of a snake while waiting for the inevitable.

Ron ‘The Hook’ Lauper was looking for Seppi for the past 2 days. They got ambushed by the local Sheriff, just when they were leaving a house they were not invited into. Ron was escaping, but they lost each other and the fine bag of silver was gone too. This was bad, but Ron knew that not many cells could hold his friend and companion Seppi for long!
He approached a close by settlement, hoping to find any leads regarding the whereabouts of Seppi, when he saw two slow lads wandering off with some make-shift weapons. “This is worth investigating” he decided, and he followed for a good distance while they were busy chatting.
He followed them right into the bog, and saw how they got more then what they hoped for. In an instant, Ron decided to help out. He threw his trusted hook right into the petrified tree that dominated the bog, and started running.

When Rommler finally raised his hand to land a single desperate blow at the beast, a shadow came flying through the air and towards them.
Ron yelled ‘WHOS A GOOD BOY THEN!?’, then he threw a handful of knifes. “CATCH”!
