JPG or PNG?

Just thought I'd run this by all of you, get some opinions on it.

All this while I've been exporting to PNG, even the inks, on the basis that it's the highest quality. Lately though I've been entertaining the idea of exporting to JPG instead.

Main benefit is size savings, JPGs usually half the size of PNG. Minor benefit I can think of is JPG can be proofed for printing, and I could maybe write things in the metadata. I don't think I draw enough deets these days to justify the crispness of PNG.

And on a personal note, my old phone handles JPGs better.

I can try JPGs for August and if that's no good, I'll revert back to PNG

Gotta add! JPG compression really hates the SHIT out of the colour red, so keep that in mind, cos it'll give anything with red all the jaggies just cos it has no idea how to do it well.

PNG is good for being highly lossless, and able to use transparency, so it's good for showing off larger images with high detail, and for printing. Personally, i stick to jpg only as an online option, because of the size and ease of downloading, but certain jpg compressions have gotten really good at decent compression, in exchange for higher file sizes. After that, it really comes down to preference versus use.

I personally prefer PNGs due to the lossless compression. You get all the crisp details while still reducing the file size to an acceptable level.

PNG forever!

PNG can have metadata too and i prefer PNGs because they are lossless. JPGs are for storing the stuff i don't really care about.
