I almost did the DD tomorrow because I was convinced that today was Sunday... but no!
Back to the normal DD schedule at last.
The beta is here, at last... I'm so relieved to finally get all the changes done. During the development of this release, I always had the feeling that there was not much content despite the changes but the changelog is full of new features so I'm happy with the final result.
This is as always, for someone with a high reading level or who goes straight to the point, it will be a few minutes of content but it is something I have already more than assumed.
What I'm most relieved about is that there have been no bugs that make it explode the game every minute or every click. Green found a bug that I still can't believe that Renpy didn't detect the first time, but that's just programming stuff, I guess.
Yesterday and today I've been 50/50: 50% resting, 50% fixing bugs, and adding some bit details that I didn't have time for before the beta (interface). Tomorrow I have to finish fixing image/alignment stuff and prepare the pre-EA to check the dialogues in depth.
I should be able to do all this tomorrow during the day and at night after resting a bit to "disconnect" from LA I'll start revising all the work I did in L'sA some time ago.
I want to review it because I'm thinking about changing most of the things I had planned or redoing the main feature of L'sA. I hope soon to be able to talk more in detail about this and show you the progress I'm making. We'll see what happens now that I'm learning more things about the "screens" and learning new "tricks" that I'm discovering to make everything go smoothly. I have a lot of ideas and bad memes/jokes for the plot/lore but the hardest thing in a new project is to decide what kind of mechanics the game will have to give variety and not be a LA 2 or something like that. On top of that, there's always the dilemma of grind vs. easy play, etc... That's what pisses me off the most about all this, as I might not be able to do L'sA the way I wanted to do it at the beginning to make it more "casual friendly", so to speak... I'll find a middle ground where I'll be happy with the result and the people who play the game will be too.
That aside, today playing RoM I came up with an idea that I don't know why it never occurred to me before: Adding buffs! I leave it here as a general idea but it's something I'll add sooner or later to make life in LA easier through potions/spells that last for a certain amount of time.
Maybe I'll add the general idea for that feature in v0.9.0 due to the hardmode rework and addition of the "punishments".
I'll give you more detail on those things about it when I work on the next version. I'll just say that I'm "hyped" to add those stuff. "Hyped" so to speak because I'm not sure how to put it in English right now.
Saturday the first EA (3 weeks) and I'm quite... well, I have mixed feelings about this update. At the moment, I was worried about the Champions and Kings and so far no one has decided to bring out the torches. Now it's up to the rest of you and we'll see what happens in the public version...
That said, I'll leave a spoiler here and I'll say goodbye for today.
See you Friday/Saturday with more!
