Posting Schedule Update (July 16)

I'm going to address a few things in this post but the most important is a shift in my posting schedule. That will be the last item I get to so feel free to skip ahead to the TLDR if you are short on time or attention.

First, my gratitude. When I put up this patreon page, I really didn't know what to expect. I'm so very touched that you enjoyed and decided to support Broken Path even with so few chapters available right now. Thank you!

I feel like the name of the story has gotten a bit confusing now that I've switched it so many times, and many people probably found it under the name "The Song of Blood and Shadow.

So, for the record (for now): Broken Path is the title of the overarching series. The Song of Blood and Shadow is the title of the first major arc (which will be several books). This is similar to how the Farseer trilogy is a subseries within the larger Realm of the Elderlings series by Robin Hobb. I still don't know what the actual title of volume 1 will be.

Finally, on to the posting schedule. I've burned through a lot more backlog than I planned to in order to gain visibility on Rising Stars and I'm falling behind on writing volume 2. As such I'm realizing that I'll need to slow my posting to three chapters per week. This will probably happen at the end of next week.

I plan to keep that schedule for about 6 weeks (until the end of volume 1).

If at that point I'm not ready to start sharing volume 2, I'll probably take a week off. If I need longer than that week, I'll pause billing for a month so I can write the end of the book and collect of list of structural things and retcons to work through. At that point I'll be ready to resume posting chapters.

My ultimate goal is to get back up to sharing 4-5 chapters a week and maintain that pace. Hopefully, if I do end up needing to pause patreon seven weeks from now, I'll get my workflow stabilized and it will be the only break I'll need.

TLDR;

-Next week I'm dropping to 3 chapters a week.

-I might need to take a month hiatus at the end of volume 1, in which case I'll pause billing.

-Tomorrow I plan to drop another 5 chapters for Patreon. (for a total of 10 in advance of Royal Road)
