GaMetal: Beta Elements! (Blog Post #2)
Added 2015-09-04 02:23:38 +0000 UTCI've always found a good look into the early development of games to be interesting, so I thought today we could do that with GaMetal!
There are a few songs that I worked in the past that I left unfinished for whatever reason (didn't like how it sounded, go more interested in a different song, etc).
[Unfortunately, a couple of years ago, my hard drive containing all of my recording files (years worth, very infuriating) crashed, so I don't have any cool sound clips or anything. :/ ]
Pre-2009
If you haven't read my bio on JonnyAtma.com (which really needs to be updated as it was posted in 2013), you can actually find some songs I made way before GaMetal was even a thing. These include a super early version of Hyrule Temple, Ghost House from Super Mario World, and several songs from the NES game Contra (I had intended on doing the entire soundtrack). They're definitely not good but still funny to hear.
2009
GaMetal was originally titled 'Nintendo Experienced Shred'. I wanted a project name that had the initials NES, and while brainstorming name ideas with a friend, he said 'Nintendo Experienced Shred', and I thought it was hilarious and rolled with it. I changed it to GaMetal in early 2010.
Bowser - Bowser Medley was originally just the SMB3 Bowser battle theme and Koopa 64. Ultimate Koopa wasn't added till later, and was originally going to be only guitar (like how the original is only organ), till I realized it sounded pretty cool with drums. I do plan on remaking both Koopa and Ultimate Koopa someday, and it will be awesome.
Journey To Silius - This was going to be it's own song, but I ended up making NES Medley #1 instead and putting it in there.
2010
Super Mario 64 Staff Roll - Ironically this is the next GaMetal song coming up, 5 years later! I had a little bit recorded for this back in 2010, but I switched it out for Super Mario 64 Main Theme instead. Speaking of which..
Super Mario 64 Main Theme - I actually quietly re-released this right before I released GaMedley. I didn't have it on the main site for a while because 1. I forgot at first (lol) and 2. When I did remember, I listened to it and hated it, so just left it off. However, it WAS released when I first made it, so I've always included it in the song count.
2011
Doomsday Zone - This was going to be the 2011 opener but I opted for Flying Battery Zone instead, because it had a few requests.
Fight Against a Somewhat Stronger Monster - This is the SMRPG mini boss theme. I actually had a lot recorded for this, I'd say it was about 80% finished. I think I abandoned it cause I just didn't like the way it sounded. I'll probably do it again someday.
2012
A TMNT song that I can't remember the name of or find anywhere - I was supposed to have a song on the OCRemix 'Shell Shocked' album. It was about 50% done. Unfortunately around this time, the whole name trademark fiasco occurred with my stage name leading to the deletion of my Youtube channel, and being busy dealing with that whole ordeal led to this being shelved.
2013
Don't Be Afraid (Sound test) - A 30 second recording of Don't Be Afraid to test out my new recording methods/sounds.
Tecmo World Wrestling (Sound test) - Same as above
Gourmet Race (Sound Test) - Yea I did a few of these when I was working on my comeback. xD
Friends and Sun - This is the Revenge of Meta Knight ending theme. I had this about 40% complete, then decided to remake Revenge of Meta Knight and add this to the end of it instead.
2014
Genesis Medley - There was going to be a Genesis Medley, with songs chosen by fans. When I realized there was a solid chance most people would submit Sonic songs, I changed it to the Sonic Fan Medley instead.
2015
Hyrule Castle - This was supposed to be part of the May Madness event. I was going back and forth between this song and Battle With Magus. Ultimately, of course, Magus won out. Hyrule Castle will be in my next remake event (don't know when that will be yet xD).
GaMedley - I mentioned this in one of my first Patreon posts, but GaMedley was supposed to have the Kid Icarus Underworld theme and an additional Excitebike piece (the tune that plays right before a race). I removed Underworld because I couldn't find a good spot for it in the medley, it was supposed to be right before Rainbow Road but I didn't like the way they flowed into each other. So I made it the acoustic short instead. xD
Also, I had a few other ideas for GaMetal #100 (GaMedley). The four I was deciding between was GaMedley, Mega Man Mega Medley 2, Blast from the Past 2, and a Super Smash Bros Character Franchise Medley.
Well, that's all I can think of for today. Hope you found this interesting! :)

I most certainly will!

2015-09-06 14:48:36 +0000 UTCAnother Mega Man Mega Medley would be great. If you ever do another please consider looking at Mega Man 4. I've been playing it a lot lately and it has some awesome sound tracks like Skull Man, Pharaoh Man and the title song (I'm aware you already did not one but two Dr. Cosack Citadel songs but you can never have enough Mega Man XD)

2015-09-06 13:45:30 +0000 UTCI'll probably do the SSB Character Medley somewhere down the line, I'm planning on doing a Smash Main Theme Medley soon, and I'll definitely get back to Contra someday! Probably as a full medley.
