GaMetal Project One Official Reveal & Details Post!

Project One has been revealed, here's everything you need to know!

The "GaMetal" Album

We have GaMetal V, VI, VII, and VIII, but nothing for the first 4 years. So we're gonna start fixing that.

The GaMetal album will feature 10 songs from the first official year of GaMetal, all but 1 (2 or 3 if you count Prologue and Jungle) from 2009. The official track list is:

1. Prologue (Journey to Silius)*
2. Jungle / Base / Boss (Contra)
3. A-Type / B-Type (Tetris)
4. Title Theme / Stage 1 (Journey to Silius)
5. Green Hill Zone (Sonic the Hedgehog)
6. Together We Ride (Fire Emblem)
7. Gourmet Race (Kirby Super Star)
8. Grabbag (Duke Nukem 3D)
9. Battle! Trainer (Pokémon Red / Blue / Yellow)
10. Battle Scene Medley (Final Fantasy Series)
11. Ultimate Koopa (Super Mario 64)
12. Dungeon / Overworld (Startropics) (Acoustic)

*This plays during the intro cinematic from the reveal trailer and won't have a music video.

All of these songs have been completely re-arranged and most sound drastically different from my original arrangements.

The album will be ready to go and available for you all here, in its entirety, on Saturday, November 16th. We will precede the release with a first-listen stream here on Patreon, starting around 1:00 PM US Central Time.

Physical Copies of the GaMetal album will be ordered next month and should be readily available by January. All Tier 5+ Patrons who pledge during this month will receive a free copy!

But, Project One is a little bit more than just the album. In essence, we are rebooting the GaMetal Universe.

A new and improved GaMetal mage

The GaMetal Mage/Bard is getting a makeover! For years, I've simply used a recolored sprite of the Red Mage from Final Fantasy 1, but he's always come with a few problems. For one, the FF1 character sprites tend to look less than stellar when upscaled. Secondly, I couldn't really ever put him on merchandise because I risk getting in trouble with Square Enix, or whoever now owns the FF1 sprite art. With this new and improved original GaMetal Mage, I'm free to put him on anything.

He was created by our fellow GaMetal friend and Discord/Twitch moderator Stoffie, who did an outstanding job!

The new mage will be replacing the old one in most places, starting as soon as the album songs start going up.

A new Challenger Approaching screen

I've been planning this one for a while now, and I finally hired a pro sprite animator to create a brand new, custom made Challenger Approaching screen for the end card silhouette teasers.

You can see it in action here. (I-no's silhouette is used as a test placeholder.)

This was made by a spriter known as Pixel Accountant, he delivered exactly what I was looking forward, so big shout out to him!

One last shoutout to Discovery who made the fight scene animation in the Project One trailer. He went above and beyond and even created a slew of new amazing sprites for the GaMetal bards!

By the way, for those wondering about any hints I dropped: The chiptune song that played during the last end card teaser that showed Project One 11-11 was custom made, and the triangle wave (bass line) plays the intro from my original Tetris A arrangement from 2009. Also the purple references the old GaMetal Mage's black and purple color scheme.

"Present" (not the new) GaMetal Mage was Mario the entire time. Remember

Project One is the official 10-Year Anniversary Celebration of GaMetal. I've really looked forward to finally giving these songs the justice they deserve. I'm stoked with how they have been turning out, and can't wait to get them finished and out for you all to enjoy.

I will be posting a 10 song preview post later this week. Until then, thank you all as always for continuing to support myself, GaMetal, and the GaMetal community. Without you all, I wouldn't be able to do things like this, so I really and truly can't thank you enough.

I'll see you in the next post! :)

Looking forward to that punched-up Contra track!

LD Walker

Exciting news! Looking forward to hear these and grab a physical copy to keep my set going ; ) . My guess for Project One was always something maybe about Metroid "Prime", I was so wrong hahaha. Oh and even though I've been subscribed for a while, I actually never saw the "channel trailer" with the Mario 2 fights, good job merging the new trailer with this old one!
