This FPE has a runtime of 1:55:34, only 16.5% of our footage was used in the episode.
At last, we bring a close to the finale of our radio trilogy, though clearly it's part of our greater radio cinematic universe. I hope the edit got across just how harrowing the journey to get that email sent out was, haha.
We recorded this at the end of a long shoot day, just after the previous two videos with Josh; we couldn't shoot outside because it was too hot, but the AC room in the house echoes too much, so we compromised with no AC and less echo; a storm was rolling in, possibly impeding reception; I still had a super gross ankle from poison oak and had to sit for most of the day; batteries were dying, Josh's and ours; memories cards were overflowing; the whistler was sabotaging us; the airwaves were particularly saturated with Field Day participants; and we just couldn't get everything lined up quite right to get the email sent, until we could. The FPE is just under two hours, but trust that it was an eternity in the moments leading up to success.
It's always a tough balance to show, as well. You can't cut out too much of the struggle so as to make it seem like a perfect little 3 minute "you just click this button and there's no problem," but you also can't let the show drag on for 45 minutes listening to every blip and bloop that it took to get there. I think we made an good show out of it though, and I attribute a lot of that to Josh's persistence and knowledge to carry us through.
Hope you all enjoyed them! It's always neat to dig into something a little more technical.
