Martial arts videos are so tough to shoot, and this one actually posed some unique difficulties. Spacial positioning is usually one of our biggest challenges, but that was less so here. That said, we expected the guys to be run through some exercises that would span the whole room, so our wide shot is pulled way back (didn't even make it into the episode) but now you'll be able to see the movements of John and myself.

The mirror was peculiar, since we usually try to keep camera operators out of frame, but that wasn't entirely possible here. You can definitely spot some moments of either of us positioning so that the reflection of the other camera op is hidden behind someone, but there's just no getting around that, so like the fight choreography video you eventually just have to embrace it.

Lastly, this was especially strange in that Brian and Jason were kind of on separate tracks, learning simultaneously. So there was a little bit of juggling in the edit to balance audio to emphasize what's on screen, and just figuring out who to focus on required us to be light on our feet and observant of both sides.
