This FPE has a runtime of 33:40, only 35.8% of our footage was used in the episode.
We had everything set up and ready to go, and then Brian mentioned he wanted the set to look as cave-like as possible (primarily with regard to the lighting). "Well uh... we'll see what we can do." But! Anybody who recalls my thoughts on the Bloody Mary shoot will know that I thrive in the darkness.
I tried to lean more into the darkness angle on this, as I think in an effort for clarity, we exposed the bloody mary video so brightly that people didn't realize just how dark it was being in the middle of this big warehouse with just a single bulb lighting the place up. I think we ended up hitting our mark pretty well on this one.
Some people were wondering why we recorded this indoors, but this was a question asked on set as well. The warehouse won out between having control over the wind and being able to see the illumination a little more clearly. It also had the advantage of allowing us to record the demonstration block earlier in the day, instead of having to wait for nightfall. It may not seem like it, since they're sort of backed into the corner, but there's tons of space around them so I don't think there was much of a fire risk. After all, Brian has worked with fire professionally for longer than much of our audience has even been alive.
We have one more video from this little mini-series and it's currently scheduled to publish right at the year's end. Prepare to see Groknar's Revenge in action.
