Cheeky Beach (WIP)

Hey everyone! Back to the beach this week with Tracer!

This one turned out surprisingly well. It took a fair bit of sculpting work, but I managed to get pretty close to my reference. I’m especially happy with the detail on Tracer’s back and arms. Beach renders are always pretty straightforward. The contrast between warm skin tones and the cool blue sky is easy to work with and always looks good.

For the last three sets, I’ve been doing all my color grading directly in Blender’s compositor. Honestly, it’s way more powerful than most people give it credit for, even if it’s not as user-friendly as other grading tools. I’ve been using an addon called Render Raw, which makes the compositor much more intuitive by putting everything into a cool little side panel. If any fellow artists are interested in improving their renders, I definitely recommend it.

Since this Tracer set came together pretty quickly, I had some extra time to keep working on Judy’s animation. As I write this, I’m still adjusting the hand movement. I didn’t get the chance to prepare a GIF for today, but the main part of the animation is finally finished. I did cut out an extra segment I originally planned. Too ambitious. Instead of pushing it too far or keeping it overly simple, I found a good middle ground. The final animation should be around 45 seconds (maybe a bit longer if I squeeze in some extra touches). My next focus is all the subtle details I mentioned last week: arms, legs, head, face, hair, and so on.

As usual, early access for this week's post will be available on Wednesday. Thank you all for your continued support!

All characters seen in my work are fictional and consenting adults over the age of 18.
