IT IS HERE - Exclusive Release

I'm releasing my single to you all NOW for free before it's on Spotify and iTunes. The music video will be posted Saturday and I'm ranking it as my favorite thing I've ever made. I just hope it makes you guys chuckle, sing along, tap your foot, or reminisce of the days of yore.

I collaborated with my good partner in crime Jeff Schwertfeger for this. Our creative duo is named BrainForce V, and we used to make songs about video games as part of our work with Machinima. He is one of the best musicians I know, and his insight along the way in a project like this is invaluable. He added several production ideas that I wouldn't have thought up and I love the way the sound- for example the extreme snare reverb at only 1:30, or the funny harmony at 3:03.

He also nailed the 80's style singing which always puzzled me. A lot of 80s singers have this funny pained-and-honest vocal thing going on (aaron neville, Alan Parsons songs, etc) and it doesn't really exist any more, I thought it'd be fun to bring back.

I will do a video on Writing A Catchy Pop Song where I outline the melodic and harmonic methods I used to glue this thing all together. It all started though on Jan 1 when I woke up, plucked out four chords, and sang the chorus in a country voice. The rest was built upon that one flash of inspiration.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT.

EVEN IF YOU HATE THIS SONG

(and please tell my why if you do! I depend on real feedback)

You can follow Jeff on Instagram  @beardstank  . He should have been famous a decade ago, and he just moved to Las Vegas for some music industry opportunities so unfortunately this may be our last project for a while.

Hahahaha Thanks Linas! I'll be getting back on track here soon with some more metal and theory, but you know I can't resist these ridiculous sorts of projects!

Nicely done Jake! If I didn’t know any better, I would have believed that I had a Rip Van Winkle thing going on ... brings me back to the 80s! Jeff is nailing the vocals. This would have fit into the rotation on many radio stations back then. It must have been a blast to work on. Great job!
