New Video! The Chord That Should Not Be

We're back! This time back with an exploration of how minor and major 3rds interact with one another. That might sound boring, but I think when you see this whole video, you'll actually find it quite fascinating! And practical too - knowing how they work together will help you choose the right scales for the right moments.

Here's the link to the video: https://youtu.be/aT0HloEyHvg

This video took much longer than I wanted. I had initially begun work on a completely different project for YouTube but gave up due to frustrations and started making this lesson instead. I'll eventually finish that other project, and you bet you'll hear about it when it's done - it'll be really fun, but not completely educational lol. Perhaps one of those things that I enjoy more than anyone else... but I promise to complete it! I'm already working on the next Signals lesson though, and I fully expect this one to go much more smoothly. We'll take a break from the harmony lessons and move to rhythm for a bit for this next one.

Next week you can also expect we'll be doing a live Q+A, so if you want any in-depth answers to your musical questions, be sure to prepare them! If you can't wait though, you're always free to e-mail me with questions and I should get back in a day or two.

Really hope you enjoy this lesson! And if you do have any questions on anything in this video, please ask away. Or if anyone here wants some files/resources/mp3's used in this video - thats what this Patreon is here for!

I always thought the 3rd is what makes a chord “major” vs. “minor”. But I noticed you don’t ever say that in this lesson. Is that not true?
