HI FOLKS!
Once again, I’m excited to show you what I’ve cooked up. I promised myself I would make an easy video after the last one, but instead I ended up making another song and music video and crammed it into a lesson :P.
I really like the track I wrote for this, “Salutations,” but I just don’t have the time to 100% finish it yet. I will be completing it though, and loading it on to Spotify, maybe finishing up a full music vid as well. The composing and songwriting and music video are all in the second half. The first half of this video describes how to practice scales using Fretastic, the free online scale generator that many of you are familiar with through my blues course.
I demonstrate how I configure the TOTALLY FREE app (all you need is an email and I have yet to receive a single spam message), and show the process of using scales to come up with ideas. Eventually it turns into a real song. The site is here:
I mean it this time- I’m gonna make the next few videos easier so it can get published quicker. This one got set back at least 3 days due to technical mayhem (outlined in the video) but I’ve got an idea for a new series that can help me patch the gap in between my long uploads without taking crazy amounts of time to produce each one, and I think it’ll be highly educational.
Hope you all get something out of this one. Even if you’re familiar with Fretastic, I think the section with the Bebop scale turned out very nice and is worth checking out. Take care and see you all soon!
A FEW MORE THINGS- I made two different tracks for this, besides the bebop-jam. When I begin talking about technical difficulties, there is a sad-piano progression that plays, and after, a patriotic swelling of horns. I’ve attached both of those mp3s as well as the rough draft for “Salutations”. Do whatever you want with these files.
