You know the drill - ask away!

I ask about it because I listened to the most wanted song recently as it is all cliches and majorly innoffensive https://youtu.be/McIfIx29tSg Musicologists asked laypeople in non-music theory terms what they liked. That song uses the most popular results of what people liked in 1995. Guitar solos, love songs, duets, saxophones, key changes, diatonic in Major. For the lulz, using all of the LEAST popular results they came up with this https://youtu.be/mQ8P4DNQA90 As evidence to why opera sopranos shouldn't attempt to rap about philosophy among other things (atonal sections, childrens' choirs, sheer length of it being an epic)

Hi Jake - brand new to patreon. From a 73 year old guy, I wanted to tell you how much your lucid presentations have ignited my motivation and have dealt a death blow to a life long music/playing phobia. Thanks so much. Forgive me if you have already given an answer to this question. Is there a learning format for ear training. I would like to get to the point where I can recognize chords and intervals aurally. I can easily recognize the basic triad forms, but for 7ths, 9ths, 11th, etc., I have a lot of trouble. Is this covered in the SMS music theory/song writing course?
