Hi Jake, can you shed some light on how to write more complicated chord progressions past just a few bars? I see people like Marty Friedman talking about Japanese chord progressions in this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QtPx6WdNM30) and he basically says that in Japanese pop music, a chord progression is more like a journey instead of an anchor. Do you have any suggestions? Also, do you have any tips for writing chord progressions in harmonic or melodic minor? P.s. apologies for the last minute question - if you want to punt until next time, that's cool.

If we already have a strong melody how essential is it to back with a rhythm layer like a guitar or keyboard ? how to make this decision ? 2. How often do you play guitar ? do you lose some skill if you stop playing for a bit ? 3. I see guitar players strum the whole 6 strings but overall play just one note how is this possible ? when i play one note i just play that individual note only my hand is just playing that , but all these guitar players have their hand move from top to bottom like a strum but play just 1 note.
