Also good to see that you think of it in terms of parallel as well. Was getting confusing trying to do relation on other scales, and it just makes more sense to see what you're modifying in your original key scale. Starting to figure out a little on how to break down those kind of mode changes. Borrowed or modal mixture chord > Scale Degree shift in relation to key chord > Major, Minor, Dim? > Identify Modes with Chord Quality is how I've been leaning. Example in the video would be. D Maj (Borrowed/Modal chord shift) > 1/2 step lower from 7th degree (Scale degree identify) > Major (Identify chord quality) > E Minor/E Mixolydian (Modes that have that shift) Sounds a little convoluted to write about, but, makes sense in the head so guess that's all that matters!

Thanks again so much for answering that. I -really- appreciate the aspect of not having to know things right off the bat. It can feel intimidating, wondering if I'm not doing enough ear training or missing out on being able to be fast at switching modes. Sometimes I think the process of videos and pre recorded tracks and studio time makes it seem a little more magical than it actually is (not that you aren't an -amazing- player!) It just seems like always having an answer to everything and being able to pick out a mode or tone whenever is second nature, and it would be nice to get closer to that. Look forward to the next one!
