Story Blurb: Makoto doesn’t want to fight anymore. Nearing the end of her fighting prime, and thus her career, she enters one last big tournament with the hope of winning enough prize money to retire comfortably.

Author’s Note: For this fic I wanted to do a kind of anti-shonen anime. Shonens are always about plucky young people who are full of energy and eager to chase some dream – become the Hokage, become the King of the Pirates, become the Greatest Hero Who Ever Lived. All great stories, but I’m old and jaded and can’t relate to such characters lol. For this story I wanted to imagine Makoto older and a bit jaded herself, with one foot in her old violent life and one foot out.

Really, this story is about my own relationship with writing. For those who have been following me from the beginning, you know I’ve been doing this for a long time now. I posted my first fight-kink story way back in 2014. Some days I feel like I’ve done everything I want to do and it’s time to hang it up. But like Makoto in the story, every now and then I feel the old battle-joy, and I realize I’ve maybe got one or two more good ones left in me.
