Haruhi wanted to make a video, and without Kyon’s ability to intervene, things got out of hand. Mikuru regrets attending, but Yuki appreciated the invitation as an opportunity to observe Haruhi more than would otherwise be possible. 涼宮ハルヒは学校の休み中に両親が町外れに出かけている間、朝比奈みくると長門有希をお泊まり会に招待した。ハルヒはビデオを作りたかったが、キョンの介入がなく、事態は手に負えなくなった。みくるは参加したことを後悔しているが、長門有希はそうでなければ可能であろうハルヒをより観察する機会として招待を評価した。 BTW, I seriously considered not posting this hahaha- I’ve tried to keep my posts relatively tasteful. This may have crossed the line, but I figured I should post something of higher quality this month and this drawing looked a lot better to me than any of the other incomplete projects that are in my “drawings to finish later” folder. Also, let me know if my Japanese grammar is bad. I’m doing my best as a mere weeb.

Your Japanese has a stilted feel to it, 学校の休み中 for example is really wordy if your English is your actual intent, you can leave that kind of stuff to subtext and it's usually acceptable due to context. 両親が的外れに出かけている間 is correct, very textbook, but most speakers shorten that because the location is immaterial unless it's somewhere relevant for building context. You could get away with ”皆いない間” or "両親いない間” and the same message would be clear based on what you wrote in English.
