Weekly Poll - About the New Artist
Added 2019-02-16 11:17:31 +0000 UTCWhile I have gotten supportive comments over the new artist on Patreon, the comments on the website aren’t as universally optimistic and that is perfectly fine. Criticism, even for things you like, is a reasonable and useful thing to give. So for the sake of transparency and to figure out how to go about this, I’d like to hear what you have to say.
To be blunt Aya won’t be returning as artist for Deviants. She’s working on other projects and is already juggling a lot (The Orgy will continue to update with her as the artist). The new artist is the result of a search for someone that I felt was the best possible replacement considering some factors such as style, cost per page, and reliability. They have managed to meet my expectations in these regards.
So here are the alternatives:
-Keep the artist. Usually it takes a while for an artist to get accustomed to a project and they have said they are willing to commit to this long term and have proven to be good in communication and punctuality. I’m doing a better job of relaying to them certain details, something I have personally become careless in doing since I’ve worked with Aya on Deviants for three years.
-Search for a new artist of equal cost. Here’s a bit of a gamble. Suppose I find another artist and people don’t like that artist’s style. Or that artist disappears after a few pages. That could cause more trouble. I won’t go over the other candidates because I would have to contact them and test them out.
-Sacrificing quantity. Would you be okay with three pages a month but with another artist? I won’t go into talk about the improvement in art as that is subjective and I believe that would be unfair for the new artist. But suppose I get an artist that nobody would really complain about. But the page rate would be higher and that means cutting back on something.
The greatest factor in all of this is money. Sexyverse Comics makes just enough to sustain itself so increasing the monthly costs is not possible. I could go into it more and detail the challenges and talk about Sexyverse Games and its impact. I’ll likely put out a separate post for it.
