Outside the sword cave, Lu Shaoqing found a spot to lie down, leisurely taking out his Tianji card to browse through it.
Ji Yan approached him and said, "Keep an eye on things here."
Lu Shaoqing complained, "You designed the formation yourself. Aren't you confident enough in it? Why do you need me to watch over it?"
Ji Yan replied, "Your understanding of formations is better than mine. I feel more at ease with you keeping an eye on things. Besides, it was your idea to create the sword cave."
Lu Shaoqing immediately retorted, "What do you mean by 'my idea'? I just mentioned it casually. Sword intent is something even a pig could comprehend after being slashed by it 108,000 times. I was joking, but you actually took it seriously?"
Ji Yan said, "I believe in it. Otherwise, you wouldn't have comprehended sword intent in just one day. Everyone says my sword talent surpasses even our ancestor's, but you're no less impressive."
Lu Shaoqing touched his nose and said, "What's there to compare? I've been meditating in the Time House for months. It's exhausting being around a genius like you."
Ji Yan said, "I designed the sword cave, and I'm confident it will work. But it's still better if you watch over it. I'm going to train."
Lu Shaoqing waved him off, "Fine, fine, go ahead."
As Ji Yan walked away, Lu Shaoqing muttered to himself, "You're really obsessed. Can't you take a break? Training, training, training every day—it's exhausting! If it weren't for the 100 spirit stones, I wouldn't bother staying here. I just hope nothing unexpected happens."
Just as Lu Shaoqing was about to get comfortable, his expression suddenly changed, and he disappeared in an instant. In less than two breaths, he had rushed into the sword cave and carried Xiao Yi out.
The next moment, the sword cave exploded.
A small white dragon emerged from the cave, its latent power radiating as it looked down in all directions.
"Roar!"
A majestic sword intent burst forth, sweeping in all directions.
"Big Brother, you bastard," Lu Shaoqing cursed, throwing the Tianji card in his right hand. A fierce and fiery sword intent erupted from the card, like the burning heat of the sun. The air seemed to ignite as blazing flames engulfed the little white dragon. The dragon roared in defiance but was ultimately consumed by the flames. The Tianji card shattered mid-air.
"Damn it!" Lu Shaoqing wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. "It's a big loss. I sacrificed the Tianji card for a hundred low-grade spirit stones. Damn guy." He looked down at Xiao Yi in his arms. After checking, he found she was not seriously injured, just fainted with a few minor injuries. While grumbling about his loss, Lu Shaoqing took out a pill and gently placed it in Xiao Yi's mouth before laying her down on the ground.
At that moment, two sword beams appeared in the distance. Shao Cheng and Ji Yan arrived almost simultaneously.
"What happened?" Shao Cheng asked.
Lu Shaoqing shrugged, "What else could it be? It exploded. Shoddy construction."
Ji Yan's face darkened as he rushed into the sword cave. After a long while, he emerged, muttering to himself, "Strange, there shouldn't have been any problems. Why did this happen?" He then sat down cross-legged at the entrance of the cave, deep in thought.
Neither Lu Shaoqing nor Shao Cheng was surprised by Ji Yan's behavior. After checking on Xiao Yi and confirming she wasn't seriously injured, Shao Cheng sighed in relief.
"Luckily, it's not serious. If something had happened, I wouldn't be able to explain it to Senior Brother Xiao. The new disciple has barely arrived, and there's an accident on the second day. If this gets out, how will Tianyu Peak keep face?"
Lu Shaoqing said to Shao Cheng, "Master, you should dock Senior Brother's benefits this month. Use it to compensate for the emotional distress of my junior sister and me."
Shao Cheng glared at him, "Stop spouting nonsense. You're also responsible for this accident."
Lu Shaoqing was taken aback, "Master, I'm not your disciple. Senior Brother is your disciple, right? The sword cave has nothing to do with me—I just made a passing comment. Senior Brother was the one who tinkered with it himself."
Shao Cheng replied, "You're more skilled in formations than he is. You're so lazy—would it kill you to help out?"
Lu Shaoqing rolled his eyes, "Do you think Senior Brother would be happy if I helped? And you call yourself a master?"
Shao Cheng was momentarily speechless, then changed the subject, "Take your junior sister back and let her rest for a few days."
Lu Shaoqing dusted himself off and left, "You're the master; you make the arrangements."
Shao Cheng scowled, "You lazy bug."
Lu Shaoqing returned to the hammock under the tree and reached for his Tianji card, only to remember it had been destroyed.
He slapped his forehead in frustration, "I'm really out of luck. Now I have to buy a new one. Over a thousand spirit stones—where am I going to get that kind of money? I'm so broke."
Feeling depressed, Lu Shaoqing sighed. He had just spent all his savings and was now penniless.
"Chirp."
Above him, a fiery red bird chirped happily, as if mocking Lu Shaoqing.
Lu Shaoqing glared at it, "Laugh one more time, and I'll pluck your feathers and roast you for dinner."
The bird seemed to understand and, rather than being scared, stuck out its rear end.
With a flash of his hand, Lu Shaoqing summoned a long sword and stared at the little red bird with a menacing look, "If you dare to poop, I'll skewer you right now."
The little red bird quickly covered its rear with its wings and flew to a higher branch.
Lu Shaoqing lay back down, lazily swinging in the hammock. His mind drifted to his financial woes.
"I'm broke. I need to find a way to make some money. As a direct disciple, I only get 100 low-grade spirit stones from the sect each month. Stingy sect. One hundred low-grade spirit stones only last three days, and I need a thousand for the month. It's like feeding a money-eating beast. Maybe I should become a masked thief in the sect and rob others?"
He thought it over but eventually shook his head. "Too dangerous. The Sect Leader has disliked me for a long time. He might slap me to death. Better play it safe."
