The Masked Strength of Sect's Trash : The Lazy Second Senior Brother chapter 36

Chapter 36 Strange Items

Before leaving, Xiao Chuang left a parting remark, "I'll be back in a month. I want to see if Xiao Yi will truly comprehend sword intent."

He simply didn't believe it could be so easy.

Shao Cheng slightly shook his head. To be honest, he didn't believe it either. However, with his two disciples insisting on this, all he could do as their master was support them.

"Shaoqing, don't mess around," Shao Cheng muttered to himself as he arrived at the Sword Cave, only to find Lu Shaoqing nowhere in sight. Instead, he saw Little Red lazily napping on a tree.

"Where did Shaoqing go?" Shao Cheng looked at Little Red, who let out a chirp, indicating it had no idea.

"Ridiculous!" Shao Cheng cursed. "Your junior sister is here, and you just left? Aren't you worried something might go wrong again?"

Having no other choice, Shao Cheng sat down and began to guard Xiao Yi. After all, there had already been one explosion in the Sword Cave; he couldn't afford to be careless.

Meanwhile, Lu Shaoqing had already arrived in Lingxiao City.

"Now, who should I visit first?" Lu Shaoqing muttered, flipping through a small notebook.

"Branch disciple of the Tang family, Tang Yuanwei—he's harassed me five times. First, he made inappropriate comments. Second and third times, he told dirty jokes. Fourth time, he tried to make a move. Fifth time, he cursed at me. He's the head of the Tang family's business in the city. Address: No. 17, Southeast Street, Lingxiao City. Enjoys visiting brothels in his spare time."

Lu Shaoqing nodded, "Alright, you'll do."

"Five times, and you even tried to get physical. Cutting off your hand wouldn't be too much."

Lu Shaoqing leisurely made his way to the Tang family business. The Tang family was well-known in Qizhou and was a cultivation family. Many families operated their own businesses or trade caravans to gather resources to support the family.

When Lu Shaoqing arrived, he saw a bustling scene, indicating that the Tang family business was doing quite well.

"Now, how should I make my move?" Lu Shaoqing wondered, feeling a bit troubled.

It was inconvenient to act in the city, so after some thought, he decided to enter the shop and take a look around.

The first floor mainly sold pills, herbs, and magical tools, along with other miscellaneous items. There were both cultivators and ordinary people browsing.

After wandering around, Lu Shaoqing headed up to the second floor, where it was much quieter. The second floor catered primarily to cultivators, with no ordinary people in sight. There were transparent display cases showcasing various items, mainly second-grade pills and second-grade magical tools.

After a quick glance, Lu Shaoqing estimated that if he were to rob the place, he could get around ten thousand spirit stones. Unfortunately, this was only a fleeting thought, as causing trouble in Lingxiao City would be going against the Lingxiao Sect, which governed the city.

The Lingxiao Sect collected a significant amount of spirit stones from the city's taxes every year, making it a major source of income. As a disciple of the Lingxiao Sect, if Lu Shaoqing caused any trouble here, the Sect Master would certainly kill him.

A young attendant approached and politely asked, "Sir, is there anything you would like to purchase?"

Lu Shaoqing waved him off, finding the items too ordinary for his taste. However, when he turned to a corner and spotted an ancient, rectangular object, his heart skipped a beat. The ring on his finger suddenly grew warm, something that had never happened before.

"Could you show me that item?" Lu Shaoqing asked the attendant.

A flicker of surprise crossed the attendant's eyes, but he retrieved the item. Lu Shaoqing took it—a one-foot-long object that felt neither like iron nor gold, neither like jade nor stone. Meanwhile, the temperature of his ring fluctuated, convincing him that this object was extraordinary and solidifying his determination to acquire it.

"How much for this?" Lu Shaoqing inquired.

The attendant was surprised. "Sir, you want to buy this?"

This item had been sitting there for years, unsold because no one could determine what it was.

"Is there a problem?" Lu Shaoqing asked.

The attendant shook his head, "No, but it costs three thousand lower-grade spirit stones."

"What?" Lu Shaoqing exclaimed, "You're asking three thousand lower-grade spirit stones for this thing? Are you robbing me? Is this a black market?"

Though he knew the object was valuable, three thousand lower-grade spirit stones was a steep price. Lu Shaoqing had saved up just over five thousand lower-grade spirit stones in the past two months, still far from his goal of ten thousand. He wasn't willing to spend three thousand in one go.

"That's too expensive. Lower the price," he demanded.

"How much less do you want?" the attendant asked.

Lu Shaoqing held up one finger.

"A thousand lower-grade spirit stones?"

Lu Shaoqing shook his head, "One hundred."

His face showed a pained expression, as if even a hundred spirit stones were too much.

The attendant was speechless, "Sir, please leave."

Three thousand down to one hundred? That was daylight robbery!

Lu Shaoqing asked, "So, what's your lowest price?"

"Three thousand lower-grade spirit stones. No bargaining," the attendant replied firmly.

Lu Shaoqing began lecturing him, "Do you even know how to do business? You open a shop but don't haggle? How do you expect to make any sales? I'm the only one interested in buying this, and you refuse to sell. Are you a spy sent by the rival sect to sabotage this shop?"

The attendant snapped, "What nonsense are you spouting?"

"I see you're here to cause trouble!" the attendant retorted.

Lu Shaoqing replied, "What? Can't handle the truth?"

"Did I hit a nerve?"

The attendant, now furious, said, "Give it back and leave. We don't want your business."

Just then, a voice interrupted, "May I take a look at that item you're holding, sir?"
