"You're looking a little tense, step-bro."
There's a lot of ground to cover and I will probably forget something.
TL;DR:
-Transfer Content To Discord Soon/Eventually
-Might be bigger gaps between releases (but hopefully higher quality)
-Commissions Maybe
Oni-Chan
...Get it? After a lot of tweaking and fiddling with tiny details no one other than me will ever notice, they're finally done. A lot of time was spent messing with their colors and shaders to get the look I was after, but I'm very satisfied with the result. I'm still experimenting with Blender's shader nodes, so things could change.
To the surprise of absolutely no one, they don't have names. I think at this point most of my characters are...Nameless.
Badum-Tss!
First Thing On The Agenda
Discord. I've been on the fence about this (and still kinda am) for a while, but I'm probably gonna be making one in the near(?) future. Some of the content I have planned and some of the stories I want to tell will likely fall into some grey areas of regulation and rather than potentially de-platform myself here I'll just move my content to Discord and use Patreon like an access pass.
That being said, I know nothing about setting up and/or operating a server. It'll probably a trainwreck on top of another train wreck at first.
No Way, That's Unreal
Little known fact: All of my previous animations have been rendered in Unreal Engine 5. Due to certain limitations of what can and can not be exported to UE5 (without the urge to rip the skin off my face), I've decided to move future animations solely to Blender. This should improve the overall quality though.
There are a lot of things that Blender can do that UE5 can't, but the opposite is true as well. Unreal has a ton of features and tools that Blender doesn't even scrape at. And speed. The above GIF was a 32 frame animation, and it took Blender nearly 8 minutes to render it. Unreal would have spat it out in about 20 seconds flat.
I don't have an exact number, but most of my animations are thousands of frames long.
Commissions? More Like Cum-Missions
That was so awful and I am so proud of that. I'm in the middle of my first ever commission, an alternate ending for Night Visit, which will be my last work in UE5 and should be finished around the beginning of November.
After that, I'm considering permanently opening up one or two commission slots. There would be priority as well as a tier-based 5-10% discount for Patrons. The types of content permissible would be as stated in the Preferences Poll post.
Before anyone gets too excited I just want to be perfectly clear: Even if I severely under-price my rates (which I probably will), animation commissions are probably a lot more expensive than you think.
Especially if there's voice-acting. After all, what kind of sense would it make for me to get paid to do an animation just to use that money to pay an actress to voice the animation I got paid to make?
I feel like I'm forgetting something.
Oh well.
To everyone who has stuck around during this time of quiet, I am infinitely grateful for your patience.
Thank you all for your support.
Class Dismissed.
