An Update On All Things Patreon
Added 2022-02-21 16:48:27 +0000 UTCHello all!
It's been a while since I've written one of these posts. However, as things have been a bit quiet on the channel I wanted to write a little something and say where things are, and what's coming up.
Firstly, things have been quieter on the review front than I'd have liked. December was a tricky month because I got ill quite a lot (you could hear it in a few videos) and then I also got COVID*. January's Moka Pot series ended up taking up way more time than I expected, in order to get all the testing and filming done, and I've had to put quite a bit of time aside to get the next book finished (more on that below...).
Those things are now out of the way, and normal service will resume soon. The next Patreon-related video will be the big bean to cup comparison (that is also a difficult video, but we'll get there!). Soon after that will be my Weber Key review, and probably a review of the Gevi 4-in-1 brewer after that.
The Ali Express video will be the next big comparison type video - we've pretty much picked all the winners on that, so when we go shopping at the start of next month we'll be in touch with you (we'll announce it beforehand too).
After that I want to do a big portable espresso machine comparison, that is hopefully delightfully absurd... (but also useful). Then we'll have a few polls for relevant tiers about what gets reviewed next.
The Book
A few of you have noticed a listing on Amazon for the next book. I'll be honest, I still don't love the title, but we couldn't think of anything that was better, and I think it communicates the point of the book! (I would not recommend pre-ordering on Amazon yet. We'll have Patreon discounts for signed copies, and there'll be some fun stuff around the launch which is currently set for August 25th - the Amazon publication date is wrong.)
The book contains a lot of information that has been covered on the channel, though presented in a different way and with a bit more space for some aspects. We're also trying to make sure it is another beautiful book - it is the same publisher as the Atlas. I'll have more info closer to the launch date.
As always, I'm very grateful for your support. There are a few more Weird Coffee Production videos lined up, and we're aiming to increase the ambitions for each of them.
I'll do my best to respond to questions in the comments here over the next couple of days, if there's something I missed.
Thanks,
James
*I didn't really talk about having COVID at the time. I was broadly fine, no loss of taste or smell, and grateful to be triple vaxxed, but I tested positive for about 12 days which was frustrating. I think I was wary of discussing something that has become bizarrely and frustratingly polarised.
