The Tiramisu Video

Hi everyone! It's been a while since I've posted a video or done much, and I wanted to write a little something about this video and what is going on.

Firstly - there are product review videos coming (first will be the Ode 2 review which has begun production but has a while to go, and then the best espresso grinder under £500). I'd hoped these would have been out sooner, but there've been a couple of video projects, and other projects, that have been soaking up a lot of time.

One of those video projects is the Tiramisu video that went out today (it's here if you haven't seen it yet). This is kind of an experimental video in some ways, because it is outside of the usual videos we make and has been an intense learning experience for us. I wanted to say thank you for all your support, because Patreon does allow us to approach these videos in a different way. Like anything you start doing, you'll never be as good at the start as you want to be and you'll certainly not be as quick. We learned a tonne about pre-production and post production for documentary style stuff from doing this, and we have some bigger videos planned that will really benefit from us making videos like this.

The other big video project should also be out fairly soon, and we learned a lot on that too - but mostly about shooting video in challenging locations. Also, I have to stop having ideas that sound simple and turn out to be logistical nightmares....

Thank you all again for your support. More on the non-video projects soon, but some exciting stuff for future reviews planned!

Loving my Ode V2! Still needs a spritz of water to avoid static but if you do that nothing sticks at all!

Ode Gen 2 arrived today, so far I’m really impressed. 9nly a sample of one but 16.0g in 16.0g out with no WDT just a few good twangs on the chute twanger. Will check again in the morning but loving it so far, quiet, quick and clean. Setting of 3 is giving me a 3 min draw down on a V60.

This showed up in my feed, made me think of you! https://youtu.be/3afRDvYBWTo

I enjoyed this informative video and I don't even like tiramisu!

I found the music in the intro incredibly distracting and annoying. I don't know if that's a problem with my headset, my ears or my brain (most people seem to like it), but I can't stand videos which drown out the content with background music. Sorry for the negative feedback, but the lack of music is one of the reasons why I watch your other videos :(

Thank you for taking us with you to Italy. Hope you had a wonderful trip.

I can see where the tiramisu video required a much different workflow from your usual James-and-physical-objects setup. Thinking of a magazine structure at all? Once you learn the requirements of interviews, you could focus a video on a location: scenery B-roll, light interview segments, cafe segments where the focus (and lighting!) is on the equipment (plus the sound of the cafe), and then a little James discussion of local coffee culture.

Fantastic video James. I'd love for you to do a food/coffee program. Going to different counties, looking at their coffee and how they use it in food. Get the food network on the phone!

I don't know if they'll be out in time, particularly in the UK, but I'm fairly interested in the Fellow Opus and Baratza Encore ESP and their claims to be decent espresso grinders for under $200 USD. Just a bunch of teaser advertisements so far and they seem to be directly competing with each other.

Loved the tiramisu video
