Asks me questions about attention seeking!

Hey guys, I'm looking to record a podcast about attention seeking and the nature of being a Youtuber. Why do you think people become youtubers or decide to go into the entertainment industry in general? Let me know your opinion. Also, thanks for supporting my channel all the way to 500k subscribers!

Our generation is riddled with corny narcissists. Social media has not only exposed it but encourages it and makes it actively worse.

to oversimplify i see two types of youtubers: passionate ppl who post things that they would be doing/thinking anyway, and ppl tryna gain a platform that they can use to do other things. with lots of inbetween. if that’s true where would you put yourself/notable youtubers on that spectrum ?

dumb wh0re

As for a question about attention seeking, how do you think people should cope with being an "attention whore" if they are trying to fill a void left by something else?

While I do think a lot of people on the platform get joy simply from making others happy with their content, everyone wants to be recognized by their peers and wealthy on some level. Success in the entertainment industry offers both of these things, and often transforms random, kinda ugly people, into rich sex symbols as long as they're funny and relatable. People like Jake Paul and Tana Mango (or whatever her name is) have shown that you can have an iq well below 60 and still make a shit ton of money while having the opposite sex fawn over you.

i think its less that people start youtube because they want attention and more that people start attention because they do youtube. while some small youtubers just want to make videos that they like to make, others just want the CLICKS. but youtube isnt the place it used to be, its mainstream and hugely marketable now, and theres like tons of people on it. as a youtuber amongst a sea of kids toy review channels and logan paul reaction reaction reaction videos, youre voice gets drowned out. youtube breeds attention seeking psychopaths, and only the most attention seeking souless heartless kids food review troom troom diy craft drama alert controversy channels ever make it to the surface to breathe (although there are a few who have managed to make a living doing that they love, congrats on half a million big guy ♡).

I used to make videos because I loved video games & talking, so I thought I’d combine the two. Only problem was I’ve never wanted to be famous and had a really low self esteem so now I find that there’s this huge tension with myself whenever I try to make a video. I used to think youtube was a really good output for creativity but as the years went by it just felt like being original or honest was more risky than just doing reaction videos to the trending page on YouTube. Personally I think you have to want to be famous, you have to be your biggest fan and you absolutely have to want the attention. But I don’t think there’s anything wrong with wanting attention, especially if you put it to good use like entertaining people :)

I think that a lot of YouTubers get into YouTube as a passion project, or just as a joke. The view counts start to rise the subs roll in and then it hits them. They are popular. But that's where the train of thought goes wrong. Being a youtuber isn't about being popular, it's about having an influence on people. People who think of it in a shallow manner start to attention seek, and people who think of it as affecting people start to realize their power. There is always the crux of views=money and that's another reason to seek attention, but after a certain point that's no longer the case

everyone is a little crazy, but i have a theory that everyone who is or aspires to be famous has some psychological issues. you have to lack attention from one area to crave it from a massive amount of people. what is it about YouTube that continues to attract these attention seekers? every YouTuber, including you, has talked about how shitty the platform is and how hard it is to get into the algorithm, and get paid, but it’s still one of the most desired jobs of our time. Also, congrats on 500k. You’ve worked hard for it. Proud of you.

It depends. Some see it a buisness opportunity, some as a side buisness, some genuenly enjoy making videos and see youtube as a suitable platform to get their work recognized. Some put the act of making videos before making money, and some do the opposite. If you were to look at youtube at around 10 years ago, when it wasnt as buisness oriented as today, most youtubers got into it just for the fun of it. Its cliche to say that a lot of people today get into it because of money, but they really do. Even among kids, there are many who want to become youtubers. Its a glamourised career, because youre seen as this independent worker, who on the side also makes good money (talking about the image of a youtuber, not how it actually is for the majority). But the success of the big youtubers today is a one in a few million chance, so a lot of people are gullible to believe youtube is just another easy way of making money.

People want to be seen and want their voices heard. Youtube is the perfect platform for that because not everyone will have the opportunity to become a bigtime celebrity writing, singing, acting or rapping. Anyone with a computer and internet connection can upload a video on youtube and get want they want out for people to see

YouTube is such an awesome opportunity to be any kind of free lance agent you want to be. You can truly express yourself (with some restriction of course). If you have something you want to say or show a lot of people, of course you would want some sort of recognition, and I don’t think it’s inherently unhealthy. It’s so reassuring to have support and agreement for your independent passion. I think people who go into creative entertainment for the purpose of showing something they are passionate about will inevitably find success with enough time and hard work. If it’s just for attention, their viral success, if any, won’t last very long at all. I’m trying to go into YouTube very soon, congrats on 500k Mr. Sneako.

Good topic. In order for us to understand why people do what they do, we have to look into their past. What makes them thrive on and crave attention ? Some people have gone through bad situations, but most of it is the influence. If you have a bad influence, you're going to be a bad influence yourself. Looks are what people only care about nowadays. It's all about the ass and titties and make up tutorials. People feed off of drama. That gives them MORE attention so why not cause drama? (LITERALLY the every vlogger). Attention means money. And who doesn't like money ? Money gets you THE LOOKS. Can we focus on the inside of people for once? I've never understood that.

Do you believe people enter the entertainment business because they see people like pewdiepie earning millions doing simple things like reviewing a meme? What made you want to start recording when you did years ago?

since you’re a professional attention whore, what drives your need or want for attention? oh yeah and when the new merch dropping...

Why do you believe people one day decide that they need to get attention from a bunch of strangers They won’t ever know. For example when you want to be a YouTuber is are you doing it because you just want attention and fame or money or are you trying to do it so people can become more knowledgeable on different subjects?
