Thanks for watching this episode guys. I'll give it a day in advance next time so more questions can be asked.

Attention Whoring and "iNfLuEnCeR" - Kinda Quality #7

Comments

Attention whoring is clearly a necessary part of your career, but you seem to care about catching the right kind of attention. Doesn't seem like your audience is the kind that scrolls endlessly through all these influencers.

@3:30 you bring up a high point, and it's essential when it comes to networking and (like you said) influencing people. I think most societies forgot what it truly feels like to connect with other people because of social media. Growing up, I wasn't a people person, and most social media made me feel worse. So I pushed myself out of my comfort zone by deleting some social media and forcing myself to start up conversations with coworkers and strangers. Like today, I was getting a tempered glass for my new phone and started a conversation with a retail worker. I first asked her how she was, asked her open-ended questions, and joked around so that I get to know her a little bit more. She has a degree/certificate for lab technician assistant and graphic designing, and she ended up giving me her name and email. I'm like, "shiit, did that just happen?" So yeah, I know it feels a little awkward or unnatural, but it takes time, and it's critical when you become an influencer. Side note - if you want people to start opening up and start talking? Be a good listener and ask open-ended questions.

I'm an Introvert, but I wan't to make money and in germany there aren't really good paid social jobs, like don't get me wrong I'd love to social shit, but I really can't. However good advice and also I'm 16 years old so I don't know shit.

I'm a web developer (and online content creator too) and when I was just working from home in my studio apartment every day, I got super stir crazy. I'm naturally an introvert as well and don't really party. So I got a job at a coffee shop and it totally reinvigorated my life. I got to meet tons of people and feel "productive" while not staring at a screen. I think it'd be a great idea for you to pick up something on the side. It can be super motivating, teach you new skills, and put you around more like-minded people. Also it's awesome for injecting just a bit more structure into your life. Everyone thinks they want to be in control of all their time, and while it can be awesome, it can also be totally chaotic. Human beings can be more like animals than we think, and we crave a bit of routine so we don't go crazy.

I got you
