Great article in the Atlantic about how the Framers tried to prevent mob rule, which is the cause of cancel culture. Too bad populist movements have removed or gone around the protections that were put in place. Government these days is based on popularity among commoners, not the liberally educated who are supposed to be the ones making important decisions that are not based on passion.

Trump is a character who is calculated. The question is what type of person it takes to behave the way he does, even if it's mostly acting. His team targeted an untapped demographic. Look up what garry kasparov says about trump. He's a Russian former world chess champion who points out many comparisons between trump and putin. For example, all of trump's bullshit claims in his run for presidency like building a wall - shit that would literally never happen. Also Trump made the voters scared and instilled fear in them and told them that they needed trump whereas with Reagan it was more the opposite.
