I agree with you that thinking someone i.e. from a different culture will smell different is not racist, because they have a different traditions and eat different things that make them smell “weird” to oneself, but don’t you think you holding your purse when a black/middle-Easter/Latino walks by is treating them different?

Yeah I think everyone has racist thoughts, but the issue is definitely the people that act on them. And I think people of color have more reason to act on racism than white people, but 99% of the time it's white people that do the acting. Neither should be accepted tho

Interesting dialogue between you two. I always like hearing how foreigners think about America and Americans. Both of you had valid points, but I mostly agree with you Sneako; everyone carries around preconceived notions about the different races. What’s important is we recognize them within ourselves so we don’t let them interfere with our daily lives.

According to DOJ, in 2002 robberies with white victims and black offenders were 12+ times more likely than vice versa. Regardless of the circumstances that resulted in this statistic, it's a perfectly valid reason to beware.

Lily chosing to not smoke infront of a white neighbourhood is very different to a white person grabbing their handbag in a lift because there is a person of colour. The reason Lily would do that is based of the fact that there is so much racism in America that people see a black person and instantly see trouble its not a racist thing to assume that there is potential for a white person to have a problem with her because there is so much racism in America. White people just tend to look down on black people which is why Lily made that choice however a woman clutching her bag has no reason to clutch her bag other than the fact that she is scared of a person of colour. What valid reason does she actually have for doing this apart from having a racist mindset? I think the comparison is a bit shitty mate.

Your girlfriend, I respect her world and realistic view. Sneako, your a young man, whose life hasn’t begun yet, so I don’t expect you to make sense. Many people 21 are enlightened and others are just children. But don’t rush to grow up, enjoy being a child.

i think u got the wrong idea of racism. to be racist to someone, you gotta do the action of discriminating them. just judging them based on their skin colour isnt racist but if you treat them differently then it is racist
