Day in the life of an Art Director

I thought y'all might be curious what my workday looks like now that we're in production for the summer 2015 set of Furoticon! - Check my email to see if there's been any urgent things to take care of - Do a Skype chat with my Creative Director to go through our back end and approve artists we favor for card assignments. This depends on their style, experience and how many assignments we already have them doing. - Open up my AD email Each step in our process is different, so I'll walk through what it takes for each card image. Keep in mind the average set is over 140 images, so repeat process 140 times, minimum. - Receive 3+ thumbnails (tiny drawings that quickly lay out an image). I approve one, send it back to the artist. - Receive a sketch. I pass this on to the Creative Director along with my notes (things to change), and once she gets back to me, it either gets kicked back to the artist to make changes, or they get approval and move on to the next step. - Receive Inks/50% complete Work In Progress. I approve this or ask for changes. - Receive proposed final. This again goes to the Creative Director before final approval. After I receive the final images, I take them into photoshop, convert to CMYK, color adjust and bring the image in line with print quality. Sometimes this means having several versions of an image for the card, promotional material and anything else we may do with the image. It's a ton of work but incredibly rewarding to see a big project come together! I'm off to Further Confusion this weekend to work the Furoticon table and run tournaments! This is one of my favorite conventions of the year, though I expect to work harder than usual >__< -Sigil
