Honestly, I never thought that the Gradius III SA-1 conversion would end up having a so great reception.
I have already converted Super Mario World in 2012 to SA-1 and overall the public was another: ROM hackers. And they were more concerned about the possible compatibility issues over the benefits initially, which is completely understandable. After the retrogaming community knowing the project however and the reception of the game, I was very happy hearing that people like my SA-1 projects not just for modifying the game but also for playing it. It motivated me for keeping with my SA-1 projects, specially after so many donations I have received and the effort some of them made to make they happen.
So with the overall great reception and great support from many awesome people, I decided that I will keep converting more SA-1 games and who knows, releasing more five games though this year. That's my personal goal for this year, if I get the enough free time and tools for speeding up my work.
The winning game on my "Next SA-1 game" poll was Super R-Type, with around 25% of the votes.
However one game I was already interested in converting was SimCity. In fact, I started disassembling it before Gradius III, but I ended up focusing on Gradius III since it was a more appealing and requested game :D
My plan therefore is for either doing Super R-Type or SimCity, depending on which one looks more viable to do first. Super R-Type suffers with slowdown at a similar grade to Gradius III and SA-1 would make its gameplay completely fluid. SimCity would benefit of faster loading scenes, faster simulating time for, who knows, have a simulation speed comparable to modern SimCity games (4 and 5) and have the statistics part have a minimal speed for making it actually usable.
