2023-06-13 19:52:07 +0000 UTCthe danimals UGC site and it's potential problems reminds me of two web projects I worked on in the late 2000s. One was for Red Bull and it asked users to generate an insult targeted at someone and then post it on FB. You could add your text and pick from weird edgy/suggestive images and then post it and tag someone directly from the Red Bull site. It ultimately never went live. The other one was for some huge diamond ring company and it was called the romancierge. You entered in someone's name and it scraped the fuck out of their FB data and put together a multi-part date itinerary that you can send to the person. This was back in the days you could pull all of someone's data through the API. So the Romancierge would look at where the person goes and what they do and and like and then suggests an itinerary based on that.
