Hey, everyone-- (Posting this on both Patreon pages.) I wanted to talk to you about ads in the podcasts. Ryan hit me up on Twitter with the attached comment, and I wanted to discuss it with him and every supporter on Patreon. If you didn't see/hear, we did ad blocks in the latest Gamescast to intro 3 of 4 topics. They were all for the same product, but we tried to inject humor into each. First and foremost, the fact that there were three from the same company is not the way we're doing it going forward. It was just a miscommunication with our booker. Before you decide if you love or hate it, give the GameOverGreggy Show and Gamescast that post today a chance; they're more the way we want to go. Each has 1 or 2 integrations, and they're from different companies. Ryan -- who is completely justified in asking about this and having these feelings -- lays out all the revenue source we have at the moment (Patreon/Twitch/etc.), and he's right. Those all exist, and things are so far beyond (BEYOND!) awesome right now. We can't believe the level of support you all have given us. Each and every day, you inspire us to make more for you. Whether it's Sean on Twitter, Amy on this page, or Xyger on Twitch -- you make us want to be better. That means having legitimate talks about getting a real studio, our next hire, and so on. With our Patreon/Twitch/etc. growth steady but not explosive, ads/sponsorships are the way we move to those next milestones. That's the business side, but not Ryan's point of "I already pay, I don't want to hear ads here." Yes, we could cut the ads out for Patreon supporters, but we’d rather not for two reasons: 1) I'd like to think we have fun with them. We're a conversational show, so cutting them out of the final product would be abrupt and you'd lose some dumb inside joke I'm sure I'm going to beat to death throughout the show. I love our flow. 2) Making a secondary version of the show sounds like a super-easy fix, however, cutting out the ads for the Patreon version of the shows doubles the work. Suddenly, there are four lengthy exports instead of two, four gigantic uploads instead of two, etc. Don't forget Kev's editing Let's Plays and daily breakouts, too. None of this was to shut you down or tell you how to feel -- I just wanted you to know where we're coming from. Why this was a move we went with. I ask you to give the shows that'll post for Patreon supporters tonight a shot. See how they go. From there, let us know, and we'll do whatever needs to be done. We love you. We'd never make a move and not think of you. KINDA! Greg
