Crowdfunding week of September 16

DSimilar to last week, let me give you a few insights into the campaigns that I’ll be covering tomorrow as well as a few thoughts in more detail

Also, I sincerely apologize. I’ve been rather slack in my duties and you guys have been faithful. I’ve seen a fair number of cancellations of the last one to two months and I will do better. You deserve better.

Dune: I really thought they would get away from a ton of exclusives with this and the more I see of it the less certain it makes me. That in combination with the price point for the game it’s based on as well as some thing like Star Wars rebellion, I just can’t see that it’s gonna be worth it in the end. The whole stretch goal box is providing variance of gameplay which means this is basically a lifestyle game if you’re going to utilize it to any extent. Yes, as with most CMON games at the exclusive will sell for more than what you’re probably going to pay for it. But you’re gonna pay a ton in shipping and you’re going to wait a long time for it. Is that the best investment for your money?

Sagrada - I think the concept looks cool, the execution even looks really intriguing but the price point is a huge turn off. This has wait for retail written all over it especially since you’re getting extra colored pencils and a pencil sharpener as the main incentive to get it. For me, it’s a game I’d love to play but I’m not gonna pay $100 for when I think even maybe including the promo pack thing you could be looking at half the price at a retail version 1 to 2 years from now.

Mushroom Sorcerer - i’m not really sure what to make of this yet. It has elements of things that are familiar but is doing it in a different way. The rulebook is OK but I don’t get a good sense of how the game actually plays based on the rulebook, which is always a concern to me. Part of it I’m sure is translation but this is one that could very easily be either way. Currently I’m backing up but I have a feeling at this point it’s probably going to end up being canceled. It’s a good sleeper pack but I don’t feel comfortable with it enough to really go for it yet.

factions of sol - as I will say on the video, this is probably the biggest sleeper pick of the week. This seems like a really solid euro core game and what you see is what you get and I mean that in a good way with this one. This is probably the highest game this week that I’m actually going to consider getting and keeping a pledge for at this point. I think it’s going to fly under the radar and I could see people really liking it, at the same time it’s probably not as complex as heavy euro style gamers would want so take that for what it is.

Necromolds - I can see why people like this but it’s too much of a war game. And especially for all of the Contin it’s way too much money. You’re talking $300 plus for everything and as cool of novelty as clay or whatever substance they’re using seems, I think it’s a gimmick as well because you could easily use tokens for a fraction of the price I feel like. So it’s a deluxification in a different way and especially with the line of sight/distance measuring, it’s an easy pass but if you’re looking for something intro war game type it might be easier than a lot of the other things out there as well to hit the table. I just can’t do it from those aspects as well as the drafting sort of scenario when you’re creating the army in the first place.

again, I apologize and thank you for the support. Let me know if you have any questions between these comments and tomorrow’s video.

Comments

That shipping price on Dune makes it unreasonable in my mind. Would think a company with CMON's experience and volume would have logistics under better control.

No worries about slacking, your content is awesome. Worth supporting.
