이 웜은 땅속이 아닌 나무위에서 사는 녀석이다. 이 웜은 길다란 몸을 이용해 나무 아래에 있는 먹이를 포획 및 섭취를 한다. 또한 몸이 얇지만 피부는 신축성이 매우 좋아서 큰 먹이를 무리없이 포식할 수 있다. 길이도 성체 기준 10m~30m로 매우 긴 것으로 알려져있는데 덩굴인줄 알고 무심코 지나가면 어느새 목을 감아 사냥당하는 모습을 생각보다 자주 볼 수 있으며, 먹성도 매우 좋아 전투원 소녀가 4명까지 이 웜의 먹이가 된 사례도 존재한다. 연구원들은 실제로 몇명까지 먹을 수 있나 실험을 하였는데, 12미터 길이의 나무웜 한마리가 8명의 여군 소녀를 잡아먹고 3주만에 모두 소화시킨 사례도 있다.
