An ancient and powerful lich (Machalech) has begun researching time travel in order to master total control over the very fabric of reality, and to prevent any possibility of his death from any threat. A devoted cult from the future has seen first-hand the destruction that Machalech's unfettered paranoia has wrought upon the world, and manages to send a message into the past, inviting the world's greatest heroes right to the lich's door before it's too late.
