Hellfire Crag: Update #1

Howdy explorers,

I've been really busy in the last couple of weeks and I honestly didn't have much to show cause many things needed organization and preparation, but today I'm ready to share the current state of each item in the production process:

Dungeon Map

The draft is finished (down here are two levels, I didn’t want to spoil it all already), I also have done most of the assets. Some minor tweaks will be required after I receive feedback from the writer, cause the map will adapt to the narrative where needed.


Writing (adventure, boss stats, boos loot stats)

After we decided with Kelfecil that he would not be writing this adventure, I had to search for someone else.

After contacting a few I have a good candidate and I’m working to finalize the agreement and start working on the adventure.

I wrote some very descriptive prompts and wrote down plenty of ideas that the writer will be able to use as a starting point. This will decrease significantly the writing time.

Book layout

For both the PDF and the print of demand, both templates are mostly ready. Some adjustments will be made when the final text is in.

Commissioned Art

The cover has been delivered already. The internal art is being commissioned and will be delivered soon :) I have the pleasure to announce we will be working with the talented Pavel from Rudok’s Tavern for the final boss and magic item loot art. I’m sure the result will be stunning.

Animated Map

We worked a lot on the animations already, here are some gifs of some cool effects we will be adding to the map (effects are showcased on an old map). This part of the project is basically done and will require just some minor visual tweaks once the map is completed.


VTT Support

I’ve started working on the module structure and styling but this will likely be of the latest parts to be completed as I need the map and the adventure in order to finish it.

STL Miniature

As I mentioned this is not guaranteed and still isn’t. I couldn’t find any available sculptor so far to produce it. Fear not, I will keep looking and most probably something will come up. If you can suggest anyone you know, please get in touch.

Audio tracks

The composer is on board. We’re partnering with the amazingly talented Ivan Duch to produce 2 tracks, one being a boss fight theme, and the other an environment track. We worked with him in the past and the results were always jaw-dropping, so I’m really looking forward to working with him again.

So all in all, good progress so far on most of the items, the first time around takes more time as I need to create processes for the collaborators, had to find a few, and some one-off work, but it still looks realistic to be able to release late November, early December.
