BONUS - Denialism and Fascism w/ Pavlos Roufos

Continuing our discussion from the main episode, we go deeper into the denialism mess with Pavlos and ask ourselves what COVID and society's response might tell us about a possible revolutionary horizon. How do approach the real issues in the world without seeing like a state? We also discuss a second article written by an Italian collective that has a different take on the backlash against mandates: https://illwill.com/conspiracy-and-social-struggle

Very interesting topic about revolutionary rupture and I feel that it is one of those yes and no things. While risk is inherent with regards to change (there will always be the possibility of some mishaps), Andy is right in that risks are also inherent in "keeping the status quo", albeit that they are more normalised and often the negative impacts go unmonitored or unnoticed. Thus whether or not to take a pathway of action or not becomes an exercise best informed by a proper analysis of risk and vulnerability (both social and systemic/environmental). Of course all variables cannot be foreseen and controlled but in that framework we can "do our best", either way.

Can someone define proletarianization in the sense that he uses it. On its face this would mean moving an individual or family or group of people into the proletariat. But from where? What class? Who are these people that were not proletarian that are now becoming proletarian. And why does he seem to imply that various COVID response state actions are doing this. What is the mechanism? Am I misreading this?

I can literally smell the sickness coming off my boss. He brought covid to work today. (Hes unvaccinated w/ fever + headache etc)Very hard not to resent these people. My co-worker here has a 6 yr old in cancer remission. I opened some doors and windows for ventilation but I am really counting on these masks today.

This was all great. I enjoyed the spice at the end. I agree with what Andy was saying (re: inherent pitfalls in making revolution) and I'm sure with another 30-40 you all could have pulled apart those contradictions some more. Some of the discussion reminded me of the work that Arnold does on Fight Like an Animal
