The Beltway Garage's chief mechanic Virgil Texas takes us for a wonk on the wild side! We focus on the Democrat's electoral strategy of writing open letters demanding socialists vote for Biden, carefully weigh their arguments, and come up with out own endorsement by the end of the episode.
especially when Jaime's comments are basically always on fucking point

Please work harder on not interrupting Jaime. Disrespectful as fuck. It comes across as if you don't care what she has to say.

I do think the harm reduction of Bernie vs Biden was very different. It's important to have a moment where you throw out the first half of the primary and ask "how much do I want to be involved in the presidential election as is?"

Instead of PMC or Middle Class, my useless cultural term is "Warren Democrat" but even that may be too progressive a marker

It's not really moral blackmail to encourage you to vote for the shit sandwich with 40 percent less shit in it because we all have to eat the shit, and we'd rather not eat a whole lot more shit if we can get away with it.
I've had this discussion many times with friends who sat it out in 2016 because of the treatment of Bernie. I understand their position, but I cannot condone it because, personally, I cannot vote to make people's lives demonstrably more miserable just to prove a point. Nobody deserves that, but here we are.

Good episode. 1st off...Jamie rocks. 2nd...IMO...voting is the least we can do for change and we have our options. Not voting for Biden means Trump isn’t directly effecting you negatively, but many are, like the dreamers for one. Biden isn’t going to hurt more people than trump and pressure will be taken off many groups hurt today. We aren’t picking our leader, we are picking our opponent. Biden is a better opponent for many reasons. The left needs strategy. Marxism isn’t going to win in one night.

This podcast sucks without Jamie, and these dingus boys don't appreciate that. Glad that she was able to get her words in at the end, they were very beautiful and uplifting. Sean's piggybacking message was also nice. Cheers - stop interrupting Jamie so much!

Sorry for spamming, but yeah in regards to the moral blackmailing/"lesser of two evils", it reminds me of things like Ephesians 6:9 (which yes, of course I only remember because 6:9) which is basically, "be nice to your slaves (and don't think about the circumstantial history that led to such a social power relationship, as doing so may threaten the perpetuation of this system in which you directly benefit) as you're both slaves of God!" Also, I happened to be watching the recent contention that Jamie mentions at 55 min-ish that she had with Sam on MR live, and the chat was pretty vehemently against any of this consideration (if that's indicative of anything not already intuited regarding the state of "the left") and any pushback was, of course, met with the same moralizing. Also ALSO, I do appreciate actual nazi Carl Schmitt's critique of liberalism in the 'Concept of the Political' as I think it accurately frames contemporary "politics'" functionally pretty well in describing 'the political' itself as the delineation between friend and enemy, which liberalism inherently avoids (beyond a surface level aesthetic) by prioritizing compromise, capitulation (why Schmitt conceived of the strategy - to conceive a functional means to accumulate political power), and conflict avoidance (aka status quo maintaining).

For anyone like Jamie who is lucky enough not to who know David Horowitz is (19min-ish), I only know of him through Assange's show in which he "destroyed" Zizek with "facts" and "logic": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PM0I5k50XsY
