BONUS: Punk may actually be dead this time w/ Brace Belden
Added 2020-09-11 10:00:02 +0000 UTC
Brace sticks around to talk about our punk origin stories, the pros and cons of a tribal subculture like punk, the death of Maximum Rock N' Roll, the future of punk, and late-era Black Flag
Opening song: Wild Child - You're a Punk
Closing song: Lumpy and the Dumpers - Flush 'Em
Kinda but also you sound like the Hard Times article "Local Man Insists Scene Died When He Stopped Going to Shows" Melbourne Australia has had a solid punk scene for like 15+ years now. NW Indiana was doing it big for a while. Crazy Spirit was an anomaly in 2009 cos NYC was too expensive for punk even then
sure winner

Maybe the pandemic will send the yuppies packing from the city and we'll have the de-industrial wasteland that existed in the late 1970s again which can birth another punk scene! Doubtful, but i can always dream.

There's always great music being made somewhere. I think one thing though that may be a factor are rents and gentrification. People need a place to be able to play and live relatively cheaply.

I also got swept up into the folk punk thing in like '04 and the best thing I learned from it was exactly what I didn't want a political movement to look like.

Grew up with punk rock. Drank with NOFX, pennywise and Green Day. π
There are many rad punk bands with awesome lyrics and rad sound. If you look for them.
