Ep 120 - Bob's Bürgerlichs

Jamie and Sean vibe on a number of topics, not limited to but including: feeling depressed, #DefundNYPD canvassing, and the latest bad discourse around "connecting with the working class." What's going to happen to millennials' politics when some of them inherit property? And a preview of a critique of democratic socialism.

I struggle with focusing for reading, and listening to audiobooks and audios of readings helped so much. Listen to the Communist Manifesto on YouTube to start. It’s only an hour and a half. And the audio brought it to life and helped me focus and comprehend!

I also should add that I don't think it hurts to inject as many ppl into the squad, so long as it doesn't take away from a multi pronged approach

Just wanted to say that I've found this show from watching majority report, and you guys are definitely helping to push me away from a soc dem perspective. Still haven't read marx or anyone really cause I barely read, but just wanted to say thanks 🙏

Good episode! I have a question for you guys about how you consider timescales and the environmental crisis looming. In terms of the transition from boomers to millennials of inheritance, personally it all seems secondary to the reality that the environment will just crash before that point. How does the environmental crisis typically affect your thought experiments about the future of class struggle?

Great episode!!!!

The claim Jamie makes about Capital becoming "the Bible of the working class" immediately upon its publication is completely wrong. Listen to Michael Heinrich's recent Yale/Franke lecture on YouTube; he talks a little bit about the "non-reception" of Capital in the years immediately after its publication.

Alexander Locascio

Can you guys link that article you talk about around 1:10 about billionaires apparently convinced of a mad max type future

How do so many episodes seem like feel-good convos?? or is it just me?

Jason John

Purity culture for class struggle is just as toxic as purity culture for sexual experiences. Acting like how tangible the result of your labor is should decide the class you're in is just gatekeeping that reduces effectiveness.
