Agreed. Felt like Jamie’s complaint ultimately boiled down to the losses of history make her sad. And like ok I get that, me too, doesn’t make it less true. This also runs in contradiction to complaining about a lack of materialism, because that’s not a materialist critique. If anything Curtis is more materialist there than she would like to be, which appears to advocate centering the essence of the proletarian revolution over the material reality of counter-revolution and reentrenched Capital. Andys point on the collectivity of trans experience today compared to the individual isolation of the experience depicted in the film was a strong one, as was his depiction of the ending (which was important to the point of the film and not actually finishing it really reduces the credibility of critiques imo) the collective call to arms against an individualist and hypernormalized society in which we are largely free to say what we like but not to change anything. I really don’t see how a communist can’t find something worthwhile in viewing collective struggle as the way out of our current alienation under the watchful eyes of machines of ever loving grace.

So what’s the final verdict on how useful this work is? Is there a part 2 coming? I’m about halfway through the series and so far I agree with the groups take that it’s very lovely to watch. But idk how this subjective view really amounts to any theory that can be melded onto the materialist conception of the working class and the struggle for revolution. Would be great if it could 🤷🏼‍♂️

if you're going to finish maybe you should hold off

Should I watch the whole Curtis series before, or after listening to this? Or does it not matter? I'm only half way through episode 3 at the moment.

The Flaming Lips' cover of CGYOOMH could be good bumper music for part 2. All slow & plaintive like… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXMc7GbQnjk

If Amogh ever makes electronic music he should go by Amoog. (im sorry)
