I remember the last time you had John on the show. He’s a great guest. I really appreciated what you all said about social relationships and work. I currently work in a nearly empty office, most of my colleagues decided to stay remote. I refuse to sacrifice my limited home space to my employer, so I still have an office. Empty offices suck. Even if these people aren’t my best friends there’s value in interacting with all kinds of people. Not to mention how remote work will set back any meaningful collective action… Anyway, thanks for the conversation.

2023-03-15 01:12:15 +0000 UTCI mostly agree with Ivan. Look at what is happening to public goods, agricultural land, and industry in Ukraine at this moment. It has already been sold off to the west and is insured by western banks. Ukraine will not become even a poor EU nation. Unfortunate as it is, the Ukrainian side of the war is effectively a war to protect the revenues gained from the selling off of the nation. An early peace with guarantees of Ukrainian neutrality and disarmament was the best chance for the people of Ukraine, but this is no longer an option. If Ukraine survives this war, it looks most likely that they will be even more impoverished and forced to auction their economic sovereignty to pay the debts of the war.

2023-03-14 18:01:55 +0000 UTCI don't think NATO's designs for the Ukraine are necessarily liberal democratic; they'd be fine with Ukraine being white Saudi Arabia so as long as it's integrated into Euro Supply chains and you can put a military base next to Russia Zelensky basically abolished unions and banned every socialist party so why'd it make a difference which state we support? The left seems to be incapable of accepting its own incompetence has consequences; the time to organize internationally was BEFORE this war. You wanna stop a war? You need a coordinated general strike in two countries minimum. Didn't do that? Sorry, but you fucked up because what are you supposed to do now? Critical support for NATO? Fuck that. Fuck NATO. Fuck CIS. Fuck Russia. Fuck Ukraine. None of these senile institutions are worth nuclear hellfire. The time to prevent the next tragedy is NOW.
